First: Ladies, I want to thank you for sharing your hearts with us men. I know not all of you will, and it's hard to divuldge areas of your life that may be painful, or sensitive :)

A few years a go I was a man who weighed about 260lbs and for my height (5'11', 6'0 if I stand up straight :) it is considered obese.

I made no bones about why I was big, it was simple I ate alot more than I moved. Also I knew I was fat, and didnt have problem saying so.

My question is; why do women who are overweightt (they have more flesh on them than there frame can hold) not identify themselves as such. It SOUNDS like they honey coat it by using terms like voluptious, curvey, thick, all of which in my mind are often diferent than how I view the definition of those terms :)

Your 'fatness' (is that even a word!?) is also relative to where you live. In the UK, I would be considered, erm, well heck, just plain fat and compared to the UK average I guess I am. Of course, if you compare me to someone from another part of the world, then I may not look so fat at all in comparison. My dad keeps saying that if I lost several pounds (I think he wants to say tons) I'd be much more attractive to girls - after all, I have his good looks... He's probably right too - at least about the weight!

I am average weight.

Overweight a bit but that Fat. lol

I notice on Christian datesites Most men are really into

if you are overweight. Some even say on their profile

they do not want a overweight/heavy woman.

Actually, I have had men to ask for Full length photo

while on another Christian site. So it is best for women

to put up a full length photo.

Well, that is not looking at the heart of a woman first.

Well, that is not looking at the heart of a woman first..

Cutting open the chest to look at the heart can be too risky and painful. A full length photo is much easier.

On a more serious note, its not one or the other, beauty or character, its both. It is not that men focus on a womans physical beauty, it is just that it only takes us a few seconds to figure out if we think she is beautiful or not. Meeting in real life, a guy is going to judge a woman on outer appearance before he sees her heart, because it takes less time to figure that out before one can even say hi.

The real question isnt IF the guy is going to judge based upon looks, but how picky is he going to be.

Going over another person's physical attractiveness with a fine-toothed comb can invite others to do the same with you. You probably wouldn't care, but your careless words can end up hurting others, that's pretty unfair.

There is a difference between deciding if a woman is beautiful or not, and going over her with a fine toothed comb. Like I said, most guys figure it out in just a few seconds. We dont spend that much time nit-picking over a woman.

it happens quicker than a concious thought can occur, it is implicit, reactive, physiological, no time for thought, deeply emotional, awe inspiring or repulsive...it just is, and no amount of teaching, learning, telling, or anything will change it. Sounds like what needs to change is your perspective, beloved of God. :)

You're wrong, actually, the Lord can change it. You don't give him enough credit, Mr. Rabbit.

And it's more than a knee-jerk reaction to a woman's physical appearance, because it at least took you three minutes to post your opinions of a woman's physical beauty in the Ask A Girl section.

Three minutes is enough time to figure out that you're being a butthead and press the 'backspace' button.
