If God's Word was not a person's authority before you met them, "normally" it will not be their authority when you're with them. Often people become involved with persons who are not obeying God to begin with. Then when things go wrong, one partner or the other (especially men) will suddenly want the person they're involved with to "obey" God's Word, which at that point is usually a means of trying to control the other person. Turning to God as a form of damage control does not always save us from the consequences of our actions. As scripture says, we will reap what we sow. Jesus didn't save the thief hanging beside Him from being crucified. But HE did accept him, forgive him and bring him home to be with HIM forever. Post Reply

simplyme_jaz View Profile History	why do women go to other women for advice instead of the scribtures Posted : 19 May, 2012 09:17 PM I could only speak for my self ,I run to my BFF{Girl Friend} not necessarily to seek advice.Instead i go to her to listen to me every time i open up and share what i feel and my deepest thoughts.And like what max's said our HOPE is in Christ alone,no one else but HIM only.Truly he will never leave us nor forsake us,when everyone does.... While prayer and time in the Word is always encouraged, the Bible speaks highly of those who seek wise counsel as well. Often, friends who have been through similar experiences can give great guidance. Unfortunately, not all counsel is wise counsel, and that is often where we run into trouble. Post Reply

One suggests she should be seeking scripture, the other suggests she should be seeking the man. Which are you really asking? Because a woman goes to another woman to seek councel does not mean she is not seeking scripture. The Lord does surely give us His armour for all battles in this life, the helmet of the knowledge of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness and the sword of His truth. But of all the armour there is one area not covered and that is why he gave us community....someone to have your back! Assuming the girl-friend is also wearing the armour of God, it is often easier for the friend, who is not emotionally entangled in the relationship, to see more clearly what is going on. When we have strong feelings for someone we may be able to feel that something is wrong, but are not able to step back enough to assess the situation clearly. If you are in a serious relationship, it may be wise to befriend a godly older married couple that both of you trust and feel safe with, who will serve as mentors to help you both see problem areas that can be addressed before they become major issues. I think he just meant that if she has an issue with him, she should come to him and they can work it out...not to take their private business to others who do not need to hear about it. If she does that it will make others judge and gossip about the relationship when the matter could have been dealt with between the two of them. Also...the advice she may get from the outside may not be very biblical and he would rather her seek the answers from the word and in prayer than people who will give bad advice and possibly sway her mind Post Reply
