Admin	What are the worst things a man can say to a girl or especially when you first write her? Posted : 31 Oct, 2010 07:58 AM I admit I'm not the best at starting a conversation with a woman and I'd like to see more of what I'm doing wrong. I find myself reading their profile and finding things to ask them about but I just feel like sometimes I'm asking too much or not enough. Laugh but I don't even know if a woman is even interested in me or not. Post Reply

Posted : 31 Oct, 2010 11:17 AM I know you ask the ladies but here's some rather obvious no-no's when you first write them: Never start out by saying "I think you are hot!" Don't ask for their phone # or personal e-mail Start off slow with the generic compliments If you have something in common, maybe suggest you share similar interests and tell her a little more about yourself. Don't give them a long sob story about why you're here or how your last relationship ended. Tell them a little something about yourself. Just be cheerful without being too inquisitive. Be yourself. There are some realnice ladies on here that would have better suggestions than I do, but those are a few pointers I've read on here before. Good luck to ya. Post Reply

Posted : 31 Oct, 2010 02:04 PM Yea I always find myself complimenting a woman on her looks. I can't help it though, I want a woman to know if I find her attractive or not. Not that physical beauty is all that matters but it can be a good feeling to be told you're attractive. I mean not to be all about me but I feel good when someone tells me I'm handsome. I've been told I look liike Clark Kent A.K.A. Superman. LOL. He's a good looking guy so yea. Post Reply

Posted : 1 Nov, 2010 08:55 AM While it seems like the thing to do, I'd strongly advise against compliments on her appearance in the early messages. If your messaging her, she probably already has the impression that you think she's pretty in some way or another. I mean, you messaged her, right? But when I was first on here and was being bombarded with messages, I was always put off by the ones that complimented my appearance. Some were sweet/innocent enough, some were kind of creepy/terrifying, but either way they give the wrong impression of, "You're pretty enough, congratulations!" Or maybe that was just my interpretation... :goofball: Post Reply

It's always best to wait a while for compliments, especially ones about her looks. If a woman is at all attractive, she likely has tons of guys telling her so. Sure she'll probably like it but it's unlikely it will make her want to date you. Post Reply

Posted : 2 Nov, 2010 09:34 PM It's been said several times, but I just want to confirm that you want to hold off on the compliments about looks. I once decided to see if I could get good at messaging girls with empty profiles on OkCupid just for kicks and giggles (I'm serious about my psychology hobby, ok?), and I got fantastic results by never once mentioning what they looked like. When you've actually got stuff to talk about other than their pictures, imagine how much more successful you'll be if you hold off on the looks compliments then too! Post Reply

Posted : 2 Nov, 2010 11:57 PM I'm in agreement with holding off on compliments about looks. To me, I feel a lot of pressure from a guy when he compliments my appearance early on. I want to know that he likes ME, not just how I look. From experience, it seems like most of the guys who comment early on appearance are rather shallow about the whole appearance thing anyway... It send up a red flag for me. I've been communicating with a guy for about 3-4 weeks now and he doesn't really compliment me about my appearance, though it's come up once or twice (like when I sent him a full body photo of me). And I really appreciate that. He's verbal about the fact that he enjoys me and that means so much more to me really than if he was always talking about my looks. Post Reply
