Did Messiah Yeshua celebrate ' christmas '

Hello everyone.

Did anyone in the New Covenant celebrate 'christmas' ?

Is there anywhere in the Word of GOD where we are told to celebrate ' christmas'

Did Paul, Peter,James,John or any other of those with Messiah celebrate christmas, NO, Then why do the 'christians ' celebrate something not found in the Word of GOD Almighty?

We are told to proclaim His death when we break bread.

Shalom

To Prophetic, and Otis.

The question is a simple yes or no, then you give your BIBLICAL reason(s) for your answer, instead both of you are arguing about things that do not pertain to the subject.

Please reread the question, then answer yes, or no, and give your BIBLICAL reason(s), why you had answered as you did;YES it is that simple.

**SHOULD CHRISTIANS CELEBRATE THE BIRTHDAY OF JESUS ON DECEMBER 25TH AND SHOULD THIS DAY BE CALLED CHRISTMAS**??

Luke 1:30-35: The angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a Son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, His kingdom will never end." "How will this be," Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin?" The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the Holy One to be born will be called the Son of God!"

Luke 2:5-14:Joseph went to Bethlehem to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped Him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them at the inn. And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you **GOOD NEWS OF GREAT JOY** that will be for **ALL PEOPLE**! **TODAY** in the town of David **A SAVIOR HAS BEEN BORN TO YOU**, He is Christ the Lord!! This will be a sign to you. You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "**GLORY TO GOD IN THE HIGHEST AND ON EARTH PEACE TO MEN ON WHOM HIS FAVOR RESTS**!"

And so it certainly is okay for God's saints to celebrate the birth of their Savior. But to call this day **CHRIST **MAS** is certainly wrong since the Roman Catholic mass or mess is certainly not of God. Celebrating the birth of Jesus on December 25th is also wrong since the pagan Feast of Yule is from midnight, December 24th to Midnight December 31st, where there is a drunken orgy and pagan feast in the week before the beginning of the pagan new year; and December 25th is the first day of this pagan orgy. The pagan Roman Catholic Church picked this day in an attempt to combine pagan Roman celebrations with Christian celebrations.

NOTE: If you rearrange the letters in S-A-T-A-N it spells S-A-N-T-A!!

The birth of Jesus was most likely on December 2nd but it is certainly okay to celebrate the birthday of our Savior on any and every day of the year.

Why do many Christian chronologists believe that Jesus was born on December 2nd??

We know that Jesus began His ministry after spending 40 days in the wilderness and in Luke 3:23 we read: Now Jesus Himself was as 30 years old when He began His ministry. According to OT law you had to wait to your 30th birthday to begin your ministry.{See I Chron 23:3,4}

We also know that Jesus was crucified on April 3rd, AD 33 and rose from the dead on April 5th, AD 33. We also know that the anointing and baptism of the Anointed One took place 1260 days before Jesus put an end to all sacrifices in the middle of the last 7 as per Daniel 9:27a.

1260 days before April 5th, AD 33 was on October 23rd, AD 29, and 40 days after October 23rd, AD 29 would have been on **DECEMBER 2ND** AD 29 when Jesus began His ministry on His 30th earthly birthday after spending 40 days in the wilderness.

Bethlehem is 7 miles south of Jerusalem and its average high temperature on December 2nd is about 65 degrees. Bethlehem has about the same temperatures as Savannah in south Georgia.

Hannuka is a Jewish holiday and has nothing to do with the birth of Jesus. On Hannuka the Jews celebrate for 8 days the Maccabean Jews regaining control of Jerusalem and rededicating the Temple in 165 BC. Jesus put an end to all animal sacrifices in the Temple for sin and prophesied the complete destruction of the Temple; which was no longer needed, within a generation in Luke 21:5,6,32!

Luke 2:10,11: The angel said, "I bring you good news of **GREAT JOY** that will be for **ALL PEOPLE**. **TODAY** in the town of David **A SAVIOR HAS BEEN BORN TO YOU; HE IS CHRIST THE LORD**!!"

Luke 1:22,23: All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet {Isa 7:14} "The virgin will be with Child and will give birth to a Son, and they will call Him **IMMANUEL**--which means ***GOD WITH US***!"

And God's saints should certainly celebrate the coming to earth of **GOD WITH US**; who will be our **SAVIOR** and make **ATONEMENT FOR OUR SINS** and bring us a **NEW COVENANT OF LOVE**!!

Hi prophetic, just like a christian, you reworded the original question to suit yourself,it is no wonder you cannot anawer ANY simple question with a simple answer.

Now REREAD the ORIGINAL question as the HOLY SPIRIT emoiwers you to read, THEN answer a simple yes, or no and give your BIBLICAL answer ,or is that too simple.

Actually the question uses the evil word "Christmas" which is a combination of two words Christ and the evil Roman Catholic word mass or mess.

John 21:25: Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them was written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books would be written.

So we don't know if Jesus and His disciples celebrated His birthday.

And God's saints should certainly celebrate with **GREAT JOY** {See Luke 2:10 above} the coming to earth of **GOD WITH US**; who will be our **SAVIOR** and make **ATONEMENT FOR OUR SINS** and bring us a **NEW COVENANT OF LOVE**!!

Dear Grace not work,

Hot Potatoes !!!!!

yup no christmas in the bible, hannukah ...yes... hannukah worked into the plan of God ? ....yes....

So no Christmas..... well we are warned not to get too heated about festivals high days and days that some consider holy and others not,.

I used to attend a Messianinic Congregation and we celebrated Hannukah first and foremost and christmas as a poor cousin.... some people find it helpful to draw nearer to God, so to discount it out of hand is not helpful as even unbelievers scream at the idea ( I make no claims here..), so how should we approach it ??? well do you remember a certain apostle who said to a certain crowd that a certain unknown God ?? the apostles used whatever was at hand to further the Gospel, it is so easy to overlook an opportunity that Jesus and the Apostles would have jumped at, with just a little knowledge we can become puffed up.

We don't really do as the 1st century Christians did, it would be so easy to reject everything that they didn't do as a heresy......but we are called to be in the world not part of it, so we should see every opportunity we are given as our last, I'm not perfect but when I am not an opportunity goes by that I won't walk in love, build up the body, encourage with a word, bring healing where there is pain, so in response to your question-if it serves the Gospel I'll celebrate with the truth in my mouth and a present in hand, for it's by our confession and by God given opportunities we work it out, so get up kill and eat !!! there are some heathen that you need to speak with and eat with !!! I know I'm using scripture in a pointed manner but we need to go where the people are and bring light....Hannukah....Light of the World.....

PS my personal preference is Hannukah and Christmas for me is just a cultural affair, a bit like superbowl sunday or Easter or whatever the occasion, useful but having no real intrinsic value... except what you do with it to further the Gospel...

PSS

A poem dedicated to dead occasion

Legalism will always keep you at home with a cushion under your feet, shouting Charity be gone and Corban is my meat, so I'll not sit with sinners or my parents visit and greet, I'll shout bah humbug to you and watch annoying people walk the streets...... because obviously I'm better than you and with God I'll spend sunday tea, I'm so thankful I'm not like you, I'm not a sinner no not me, I'm righteous and I'm comfortable with a cushion under my feet !!! I've just been elected Church warden and you'll hear me sunday, yes me, I do whatever reading, really whatever the vicar needs, I'm so glad I'm not like you, yes, without me, the world will feel, the slow disintegration towards chaos, and things will not be neat, I'm adept at keeping things in order and the beggars from my feet....

Questioning about words means the person is proud and knows nothing....

1 Timothy 6:4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,

We know the birth of Christ was a celebration, because the birth is told for us, and all scripture is profitible for instruction in righteousness..

Matthew 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

So the name is irrelevant, what matters is what we believe in, in our own mind...

Romans 14:5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

We can celebrate with our families, as is meant to be, that is why it is in all of the world, even as an example to muslims who see something special happens at Christmas, goodwill to all men reflects from Christ mas as in the scripture, even though it is not with enough sincerity, but love that is sen at any time is good, like Otis was saying, therefore it is good, not bad at all...

Luke 2:13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

**WE ARE ALL WAITING FOR THE HEAVENLY ETERNAL NEW JERUSALEM**

**We** does not include ADAM7777 who teaches that everything in Revelation is a symbolic fairy tale**

Galatians 4:26,27: Now Hagar stands for Mount Sinai and Arabia and corresponds to the present city of Jerusalem, because she is in slavery with her children!! But the **JERUSALEM THAT IS ABOVE** is free, and she is our mother!

Hebrews 11:13-16: All these people {OT saints} were still living **BY FAITH** when they died. They did not receive the things promised, they only saw them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth. People who say such things show they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they could have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were looking for a better country--**A HEAVENLY ONE**. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God , for He has prepared **A CITY FOR THEM**!!

Revelation 21:9-27: One of the seven angels said to me, "Come I will show you the Bride, the Wife of the **LAMB**." And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the **HOLY CITY, JERUSALEM**, coming down out of heaven from God. It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. It had a great, high wall {1377 miles high} with 12 gates, and with 12 angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the 12 tribes of Israel. {Not including Dan--See Rev 7:4-8} ... The wall of the City had 12 foundations, and on them were the names of 12 apostles of the **LAMB**. {Including Paul instead of Judas}

The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the City, its gates of and its walls. The City was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the City with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia in length. {A stadia is 606 feet and 606 feet times 12,000 is 7,272,000 feet which would be 1377 miles plus 1,440 feet!} and as wide and high as it is long. He measured the wall and it was 144 cubits thick {A cubit is 1 1/2 feet so the wall will be 215 feet thick} by man's measurement which the angel was using. The wall was made of jasper, and the City of pure gold, as pure as glass. The foundations of the City walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, the fifth sardonyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth and the twelfth amethyst. The 12 gates were 12 pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. the great street of the City was of pure gold, like transparent glass.

I did not see a temple in the City because the Lord God Almighty and the **LAMB** are its temple. the City does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the **LAMB** is its lamp... Nothing impure will ever enter it, but only those whose names are written in the **LAMB'S BOOK OF LIFE**!!

Revelation 22:1-6: Then the angel showed me the river of the Water of Life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and the **LAMB** {TWO THRONES} down the middle of the great street of the City. On each side of the river stood the Tree of Life, bearing 12 crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month... The throne of God and of the *LAMB** will be in the City,{There will be only **TWO THRONES** in the New Jerusalem!} and his servants will serve Him. They will see His face and His name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night! They will not need the light of the lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever. The angel said to me, These words are TRUSTWORTHY and TRUE!!

Revelation 21:1-5: Then I saw a **NEW HEAVEN** and a **NEW EARTH**, for the first heaven and first earth had **PASSED AWAY**, and there was **NO LONGER ANY SEA**.{See 2 Peter 3:10-13] I saw the Holy City, the **NEW JERUSALEM**, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making **EVERYTHING NEW**!" Then He said, "Write this down, for these words are TRUSTWORTHY and TRUE!"

Matthew 19:29: Jesus says, " Everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for **MY SAKE** will receive **A HUNRED TIMES AS MUCH** and will inherit eternal life!!

Revelation 2:11,17: Jesus says, "Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the **CROWN OF LIFE**...To him who overcomes...I will also give him a white stone with a **NEW NAME** written on it known only to him who receives it!!"

Revelation 3:12: Jesus says, "Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of My God. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from My God, and I will write on him My new name!!"

Revelation 3:21: Jesus says, "To him who overcomes, I will give the right to **SIT WITH ME** on My throne, just as overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

Revelation 22:16,18,19: "I, Jesus, have sent My angel to give you this testimony **FOR THR CHURCHES**...I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book. If anyone **ADDS** anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book {Including Eternal Hell} And if anyone **TAKES WORDS AWAY** {like ADAM7777} from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the Tree of Life and in the Holy City {THE NEW JERUSALEM} which are described in this book!!"

do you guys really think that aruing over a day glorifies God ???

everybody has an opinion, there are merits to every line of thought, but we invalidate our arguements when we say Hand ! Foot ! I don't need you, is this a urinating contest ? cmon guys enough is enough ! I'll be blunt Prophetic 7744 your style is way too adversarial to be considered a loving rebuke by any standards, you are wallking in the footsteps of an angry bunny, Adam777 you really ought to no better than to argue these particular points in this particular context, the reality is this...

Some people hold christmas to be true, some don't, there are various reasons why it is not true and there are various reasons why we ought to be celebrating as a way to advance the gospel, in that simple summary there are several scriptures at play let alone the truths and arguments put forth in the discussion already.

I happen to be well versed in the timeline of Christs birth as I had much teaching on the subject from one versed not only in biblical studies but also in Jewish culture of the 1st century and of the old testament, my teachers opinion ?? an opportunity is an opportunity, don't confuse truth with expediency !! there are times to bring truth and ther are times to bring love, christmas is a time to show God's love and the opportunities are made manifest by the scriptures that underpin the season, you have the rest of the year to split hairs, but sadly not as many opportunities, you choose, look good or do good ....
