I decided to repost the question, as a certain person seems to think they need to write and post walls of scripture on almost every single thread in this section.
Mat 5:17
Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.
To those that answered, may I say that I do not believe any person translated the Scripture, for had they taken the time to translate, they might have had a better understanding of what Yeshua had spoken.
Most people that speak about this Scripture give the same understanding as the ones posted on the other thread with the same title.
What is truly sad, is that the people that have been speaking about this Scripture over the many years, they have not taken the time to translate the Word of GOD.
Speaking using a wrong translation means that the teaching is wrong also.
Let us look at the Scripture, then let us look at the context, words and tense of the words to have a better understanding.
Mat 5:17
Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.
Almost all of the teaching about this Scripture is wrong, as those teaching use this Scripture to try to bring the people back to being under the law, When this really teaches about the Grace, and Freedom of GOD Almighty in Messiah.
When Messiah says the HE came not to abolish, BUT to FULFILL, is He talking about OBEDIENCE to the LAW, OR something else. The English word FULFILL holds the answer.
Let us first look to see how a single word is able to change the context of anything that has been written.
NASB
John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Those calling themselves jehovahs witness, have change John 1:1 with just a single vowel/ word, that being the letter 'a' .

According to John
1:1
1 In the beginning was the Word,+ and the Word was with God,+ and the Word was a god
By adding the letter 'a' to the Scripture, the context changes from Messiah being GOD, to being a god, or one of many gods.
Now back to the Scripture
Mat 5:17
Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.
Was Messiah teaching that He had come to OBEY the law as taught be many who call themselves Christians; OR was He teaching something completely different.
We need to look at the word FULFILL, in order to have a right understanding, as other Scriptures will help to give better clarity.
English: fulfill
Greek: plro
to make full, to fill up, i.e. to fill to the full
to cause to abound, to furnish or supply liberally
I abound, I am liberally supplied
to render full, i.e. to complete
to fill to the top: so that nothing shall be wanting to full measure, fill to the brim
to consummate: a number
to make complete in every particular, to render perfect
to carry through to the end, to accomplish, carry out, (some undertaking)
to carry into effect, bring to realisation, realise
Messiah did not come just to OBEY the law of GOD Almighty, ABSOLUTELY NOT, He had come in order to FILL UP, or to COMPLETE the law.
The law was complete, yet it was also empty, in that the law could not save anyone from the Wrath of GOD Almighty.
The law could not:
Justify anyone
Forgive or remove sin from anyone:
Make anyone RIGTHEOUS
Sanctify, or make a person HOLY.
The law cannot RECONCILE anyone to GOD Almighty.
The law cannot make any person either a son or daughter of the Most High GOD.
The law can only CONDEMN a person; ONLY Messiah is able to Save a person from the Wrath of GOD Almighty.
Rom 5:8
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Rom 5:9
Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.
Rom 5:10
For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life
Forgiveness of sin:
Heb 9:22
And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
Heb 9:22
And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
Isa 53:5
But He was pierced through for our transgressions,
He was crushed for our iniquities;
The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him,
And by His scourging we are healed.
Isaih 53:6
All of us like sheep have gone astray,
Each of us has turned to his own way;
But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all
To fall on Him.
Sanctify:
John 17:19
For their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth.
Righteousness: ( verse 21)
2Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.
2Co 5:18
Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation,
2Co 5:19
namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
2Co 5:20
Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
2Co 5:21
He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him
Mat 5:17
Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to FILL UP.
He who is saying that I know him,and is not keeping his precepts, is a liar; and the truth of The God, (tou theou) (YHWH) is not in this one.
1 John 3:8
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
1 John 3:9
Whosoever is born of YHWH does not commit sin; for His seed remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of YHWH.
1 John 3:4
Whoever commits sin transgresses also the LAW: for sin is the transgression of the LAW.
Matthew 7:23
But I will reply, 'I never knew you. Get away from me, you who work lawlessness.
The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all causes of sin and all law-breakers,
Matthew 7:21-23
"Not everyone who says to Me, King, King, shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father (keeps His Commandments) in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, King, King, have we not prophesied in Your name, and cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name? And then will I (Yahusha) declare to them, I never knew you, depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness" (you who are without The Law of Yahweh).
Matthew 7:23 - New Living Translation
But I will reply, 'I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God's laws.'
Matthew 13:41- English Standard Version
The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all causes of sin and all law-breakers,
Matthew 23:28 - Weymouth New Testament
The same is true of you: outwardly you seem to the human eye to be good and honest men, but, within, you are full of insincerity and disregard of God's Law.
Matthew 24:12 - New American Standard Bible
"Because lawlessness is increased (The Law defines love), most people's love will grow cold
Romans 4:7 - GOD'S WORD Translation
"Blessed are those whose disobedience (to The Law) is forgiven and whose sins (against The Law) are pardoned.
Romans 6:19 - International Standard Version
I am speaking in simple terms because of the frailty of your human nature. Just as you once offered the parts of your body as slaves to impurity and to greater and greater disobedience (to The Law), so now, in the same way, you must offer the parts of your body as slaves to righteousness (which is keeping The Law) that leads to sanctification.
2 Corinthians 6:14 - English Standard Version
Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers (true believers keep The Law). For what partnership has righteousness (law keepers) with lawlessness (law breakers)?
2 Thessalonians 2:7 - International Standard Version
For the secret of this lawlessness (the false doctrine that Jesus abolished The Law) is already at work
Titus 2:14 - English Standard Version
who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works (of The Law).
Hebrews 1:9 - Holman Christian Standard Bible
You have loved righteousness (kept The Law) and hated lawlessness (disregard for The Law); this is why Yahuah, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of joy rather than Your companions.
Hebrews 8:12 - King James 2000 Bible
For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness (breaking The Law), and their sins (against The Law) and their iniquities (contempt for The Law) will I remember no more.
1 John 3:4 - King James 2000 Bible
Whosoever commits sin transgresses also The Law: for sin is the transgression of The Law.
Matt. 5:17-19
Think not that I came to destroy the Law and the Prophets. I did not come to destroy them, but rather to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments [from the Law] and teaches men so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of heaven; but he who DOES THEM and teaches them shall be called great in the Kingdom of heaven. For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
In the very next verse ( I do LOVE reading in CONTEXT, for greater COMPREHENSION!)......
(CLV) Mt 5:18
For verily, I am saying to you, Till heaven and earth should be passing by, one iota or one serif may by no means be passing by from the law till all should be occurring~.
Q 1.) Has heaven passe by?
A.) Mmmmm NO!
Q 2.) Has Earth passed by?
A.) No again
Q 3.) Has all occurred?
A.) Nays 3 - Yeas 0....... It's unanimous
Not one iota, serif, zilch, zippo, nada, a hill of beans, a goose egg, nil, diddly squat has passed from the LAW!
