Does that mean praying in tongues? :prayingm: 18 Pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication. Ephesians6:18 4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; 6and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. 7To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 8To one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, 9to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the discernment of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11All these are activated by one and the same Spirit, who allots to each one individually just as the Spirit chooses. 1Corinthians 12:4 26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes* with sighs too deep for words. 27And God,* who searches the heart, knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit* intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.* Romans8:26 :prayingf: Post Reply

Yes praying in the Spirit does mean praying in tongues. 14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays but my mind is unproductive. I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my understanding; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my understanding. It's called unfruitful..... Post Reply

It's not good to take an issue like tongues and just look for some verses that seem on the surface to back up your view. Post Reply

If I have a problem and don't know how to tackle it, I know that God does know how to tackle it, and so I pray in the Spirit to let God work on it in ways that I can't. As well, sometimes I simply don't know how to put my feelings into words, but the Holy Spirit knows what my heart is trying to say, and can say it for me. Do I ever pray in the Spirit/spirit without using tongues? I think I've done it here and there. While not necessarily praying in tongues, sometimes I just offer up the awareness of how my heart/emotions are to God basically saying in my heart "This is where I am at. I'm offering it to you so you can help me." I don't believe that words necessarily have to be said, as God communicates through thought as well, and so I figure we can too. Post Reply

Posted : 28 May, 2012 10:40 AM Gourd- Same here..sometimes are mind doesn't know what to pray for because there is so much to pray for..and we might not be able to find the right words. I have trouble articulating so praying in the Spirit is great for me! Have a good day!:glow: Post Reply
