In verse 27, Messiah proclaims that He is I AM.
In verse 31, Messiah asks Peter ' Why did you DOUBT';What did Peter DOUBT, that Messiah should Peter this question.
Translate verse 27 from the English, then you will have your answer.

Gracenotworks; not sure what you are trying to get at, but to answer your question; it appears Peter doubted he could walk on the water in a storm without drowning. If Peter lacked faith in Jesus then why did he call to Jesus for help when he started to sink? See below vvv

Somehow i posted my subject on your thread, i have been using a phone for sometime as the computer is not set up as i moved from the last residence into a new place.
In the scriptures i posted Messiah says 'I A M ' do not fear, that is the only reason Peter left the boat. He began to sink when he began doubting that Messiah is I AM .
This is one of the clearest places where Yahshua declares that He is GOD.
Man, I hate to be the one to break the news to you, but the whole "I Am" thing, although really cool, is most likely contrived. To explain:
The Hebrew of Exdous 3:14 where "I Am" is derived doesn't say "I Am" but "I will be who I will be". Therefore it really doesn't fit as Christianity would like it to. In addition; in the Greek without capitalization or punctuation the "I Am" turns into "I am". It appears modern translations may be takeing some creative license.
