Could someone expound please

Hi there,

I've seen this Scripture quoted many times, if someone is able to expound on it's meaning to help me gain understanding I'd be grateful.

Matthew 11:12 "And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force."

Many thanks

Jacquie

That seems a bit of a stretch to me though, and even more so when you take Luke 16:16 into consideration, if they're supposed to be saying the same thing that is. I don't know. It didn't seem that hard to understand, but now it does!

Mark, here is the transliterated Hebrew. As you can see in both passages "chazaqah" is being referred to.

Matt 11: 12

umiymey Yahuchanan haMatbil w`ad-henah malkuth hashamayim nithpsah byad chazaqah whamithchazqiym yachtphuah

Luke 16:16

haTorah whaNbiyiym nitnu `ad-Yahuchanan umin-az wahalah bsorath malkuth haElohim wkal-iysh byad chazaqah yabo bah.

I understand, but one word doesn't change the whole meaning of a sentence all by itself. It just seems to me like it's talking about two different groups, and I don't think it can be very accurate to use Hebrew or Hebrew meanings on words that were written in Greek.
