I am typing this directly from James White's book "The King James Only Controversy". subtitle: "Can you trust Modern Translations?" Group 1. "I like the KJV best" They are not militant and do not insist everyone agree with them. They like the poetic writing style of the KJV. Group 2. "The Textual argument" This group believes that the underlying Greek and Hebrew texts used by the King James Translators are superior to all other original language texts. They may not believe the texts are inspired, but that they accurately reflect the original writings of the prophets or the Apostles. Some in this group would object to being called KJV only, because they would call themselves "Majority Text" advocates. This viewpoint asserts that the best reading should be the one supported by the consensus, or the majority of the existing Greek New Testament manuscripts. Group 3. "Received Text Only" This group believes that the Textus Receptus either has been supernaturally preserved over time, or even inspired, and hence maintained in an inerrant condition. They would believe the same concerning the Hebrew text utilized by the KJV translators. This position does NOT necessarily insist that the KJV translation is an inerrant translation, leaving open the possibility of a better translation. Group 4. The Inspired KJV group. Most KJV only advocates fall into this group. They believe the KJV itself, as an English language translation is inspired, and therefore inerrant. Many believe the Textus receptus is inspired and inerrant as well. This groups key affirmation, which gives shape and form to the entire KJV only controversy is the following formula: The King James Bible alone = The Word of God Alone Group 5. "The KJV as the New Revelation" This is the most radical position This group, while mentioning at times the Greek and Hebrew texts, the academic credentials of the Translators of the KJV, the doctrinal superiority of the KJV, in reality do not rely upon such things. They truly believe that God supernaturally inspired the King James Version in such a way that the English text itself is inerrant Revelation. Basically they believe God "re-inspired" the Bible in 1611, rendering it into the English Language. They go as far to say that the Greek and Hebrew texts should be changed to fit the readings found in the KJV! (The above has been typed from James White's book) In Christ, James Post Reply

Posted : 7 Oct, 2011 02:15 PM Hummm...thats really interesting from Mr White...as ya well know James I use the KJV as it is the Bible the LORD lead me to...I also presently own many translations to numerous to count that I have aquired and collected through out my years as well as My families 1611...I do prefer the KJV...So what TYPE of KJV ONLY am I ???...xo Post Reply

Posted : 10 Oct, 2011 08:17 AM I did read it James...:rolleyes:...and I am not a Arminan...5 Points = Pagan...6 points = Repham...SOooo...that leaves 4 points which is neither Calvin or Arminian...SOooo moving right along now brings us to 3 points...The FATHER...The SON...and The HOLY SPIRT...So...I am a "Christian"...hava Blessed day...xo Post Reply
