Posted : 11 Oct, 2011 01:41 PM Does you pastor give topical sermons( picks a topic, speaks on it and cites a number variant verses that are related to the topic some way) or expository sermons( picks one passage from scripture and explain its meaning going line by line) ? Which one do you prefer and why? Post Reply

Posted : 11 Oct, 2011 04:32 PM Well...Ima not sure what style he uses...Sometimes its a topic about dealings in living life ( Good & Bad ) and he shows us in the Bible the same topic about living life (Good & Bad )...Other times...like on Wednesday night Bible Study...we just be Reading through the Bible..verse by verse...chapter by chapter...and the Pastor will explain more deeply on something important...and then other times the Holy Spirit is present and the Pastor will speak more in-depth and in-lightend about the Scripture being studied...Hope that answers your question or helps in some way...xo Post Reply

View Profile History	What sermon style does your Pastor use? Posted : 11 Oct, 2011 07:18 PM My Pastor picks a topic and the scripture to go along with it. He is lead by the Holy Spirit so often times he may be lead off of that scripture and to another one during the Sermon. I prefer a Preacher not to be so reserved he can not be lead by the Holy Spirit whenever God leads him. Praise the Lord!!! Post Reply

Posted : 12 Oct, 2011 05:12 PM My pastor does both topical sermons and expository sermons, as well as I do both depending on the subject matter and information I would like to get across... Seeker, are you going to seminary? Or, have you just come upon a two new words that sound spiritual :glow::yay::hearts:...j/j(which is to mean just jokin :laugh:) Post Reply

Posted : 14 Oct, 2011 06:35 PM Ok, I like a mix of both, it really depends on the topic, I think in order to address a pressing issue you need to do a topical sermon. Expository preaching can be just as, if not more Spirit led then topical sermons, because there is one thing we know without any doubt the Biblical Text and its proper interpretation comes from the Spirit.
