John 8: 32-39, the Servant Lives Not In the House Forever, And the Transformation of Israel

John 8: 32-39 is another account in the Gospels that, when interpreted by other scripture, shows the transformation of Israel.

Here Jesus is talking to the Pharisees. Jesus is capable of carrying on a dialogue with his spiritual opponents without being lured by their dialectic into the dialectic himself. He does nothing but teach and preach the absolute facts of the word of God. Notice also that when Stephen talked to the Pharisees in Acts 6 and 7 he did nothing but teach and preach. There is no dialogue between Stephen and the Pharisees in this account. Acts 6: 8 says Stephen was full of faith and power and did great wonders. The dialectic does not work against that kind of faith and power. The Pharisees could not defeat Stephen in that which is spiritual; they had to resort to the physical, that is, they killed him.

"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. 33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? 34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. 35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever........38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father. 39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham."

Christ is telling the Pharisees, in effect, that there was a change in the qualifications a person must have to be allowed into the kingdom of God. This is what is meant by the parable of the wedding garment in Matthew 22: 8-14, where a man tried to crash the wedding of the Lamb without having on a proper wedding garment.

The Pharisees, the leaders of physical Israel were claiming to have the qualification necessary under the old way, which was literal, physical descent from Abraham.

But Christ told them that the servant does not live in the house forever, but the Son abideth forever. And he told them that if they were the children of Abraham, they would do the works of Abraham, but he is talking about being the spiritual seed of Abraham.

Christ is talking about those who are sons of God living in the house forever, but servants do not live forever in the spiritual house which is the kingdom of God. Of course, Christ himself as the only begotten Son of God lives in the house forever. But this is not all he is telling the Pharisees.

He is also telling them that there has been a change from the Old Covenant to the New, that physical Israel which has been the servant of God in bringing forth the word of God and that Christ the Messiah came from them must be changed into being the spiritual sons of God in order to live in God's spiritual house forever. Flesh and blood, which was what physical Israel represented, cannot inherit the kingdom of God (I Corinthians 15: 50). They must be born again (John 3: 1-7) and become the spiritual sons of God to live in the house forever. The house of old physical Israel has been left desolate. Matthew 23: 33-38 tells about why the house was left desolate. "Behold, your house is left unto you desolate (verse 38)."

Physical Israel was God's servant.

"But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend." Isaiah 41: 8

Isaiah 44: 1 also says "Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen:"

Isaiah 44: 21 also says Jacob are Israel are God's servant.

A number of New Testament scriptures say that the elect of God, or Christians, are the sons of God.

"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:" John 1: 12

"For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God." Romans 8: 19

"And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ." Galatians 4: 6-7

Galatians 4: 6-7 states a vital part of the transition from physical Israel to Israel reborn in Jesus, and by the Spirit.

"Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. 2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure." I John 3: 1-3

I like your post, but I think a few things need cleared up; only because its unclear of the point or the question trying to be made. The old way yes seeing how the oral torah is of rabbinical law, but the written Torah, which was written by the finger of G-d Himself and part of the cannon that Y-shua Himself said shall not pass away Not even a jot!!!! Jesus said, The scripture cannot be broken. (John 10:35) Jesus said, Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. (Mat 5:17-18). Jesus said, And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tittle of the law to fail. (Luke 16:17)

Praise is unto G-d 10s of thousands of us having had the vial lifted from our eyes and we know Y-shua the Messiah. When the time of the genitals was fulfilled in 1967, when the Jews took back Jerusalem.
