God will treat us the way we treat others. True or False?

Does God follow our example or do we follow Gods example?

Do we sin or does God sin?

How can God treat us the way we treat others? His very nature prevents that because He is Holy and we are are not.

False. While we were yet sinners, He sent his son to die for us. We reap what we sow in this life, even if God did not exist, we would suffer consequences for our actions. If we mistreat someone, they will distrust/hate/seek revenge/seek justice.

Okay. The reason I asked this question is because it seems to me that the answer is not a black and white, yes or no. I mean some people say yes, and others say no. When I asked my pastor this same question, he didn't give a clear answer either. So, I am wondering why the answer is no or why it is yes. When is it no? When is it yes?

The reason why God may treat us the way we treat others is because Jesus said in Luke 6:37-38, "Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you."

It seems that God will treat us the way we treat others. And it is true. I mean just consider the condition for our salvation. Forgiveness is key. Jesus said that if we do not forgive others, God will not forgive our sins either. (See Matthew 6:15)

Then of course, in the Old Testament, we have verses like Proverbs 17:13 ~ "Whoever rewards evil for good, evil will not depart from his house."

Proverbs 21:13 ~ "Whoever shuts his ears to the cry of the poor will also cry himself and not be heard."

Proverbs 22:22 ~ "Do not rob the poor because he is poor, nor oppress the afflicted at the gate; For the LORD will plead their cause, and plunder the soul of those who plunder them."

From these and many other verses in the Old Testament, I get this notion that God is like a "businessman." It's give and take. God does something, then we do something, and then God reacts. For example, He told Abraham to offer his son, Isaac, as a sacrifice. We know what happened. Abraham obeyed. And then God swore to Abraham that He will bless him with many descendants, and through him all the nations of the earth will be blessed. In other words, God promised Abraham, that the Messiah will come from his line. Since Abraham was willing to offer his only son, God made it a done deal that He will offer His only Son. BUT WHAT IF... Abraham refused to offer his son???

See? This is what I am trying to figure out. There are so many verses in the Bible where we can see that God reacts to our actions, even in the New Testament. For example, in Revelation 3:10 He says, "Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth."

And what was Jesus' reaction to people who came to Him for healing? "Your faith hath made you well." "Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well." "Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!" "Go your way; your faith has made you well." "According to your faith let it be to you."

See?

This is why, I think, the answer to my question could be a simple "YES." God's gifts including healing, mercy, salvation are God's reactions to OUR actions. In other words, Jesus paid the price, but we have to do our part to accept it. And "accepting" is more than just saying, "Okay, I accept it." Abraham had to offer his son. Jesus told the rich man to give away everything he had. He tells each of us to forgive others, to treat others as we want to be treated, etc. I hope this makes sense.

If your answer is "NO," I would like to hear your argument.

God does everything for our good, because he loves us and gave his son to be the sacrifice for our sin. God's grace has nothing to do with us, it is all about his good pleasure.

If I steal from a 100 people, it's not likely that God is going to be steal from me a 100 times, but I will be punished by God at the end of the world for stealing. A lot of the psalms of David have questions as to why the wicked "prosper" while good people seems to be persecuted and ridiculed. God doesn't "treat" us the same as we "treat" other people. You're right to say that our actions have consequences and that God stands in judgment, but He doesn't literally treat us the way we treat others. I understood the question to mean something entirely different than what you were looking for, but I still stand by my answer.

It gets to be a bit convoluted with you enter forgiveness into the equation, but there are examples of what I'm talking about. In the parable of the unmerciful servant(and quite a few others), the servant was forgiven with no conditions. It was entirely unconditional forgiveness from "the king". It was only after the servant was forgiven the debt that there was a problem. So even in that context, it can be said that God does not treat us like we treat others, until after we are forgiven. While we were yet sinners, Jesus died for us. After we believe in that forgiveness, if it doesn't change us into merciful forgiving servants, then we have a problem. So maybe the question should be "God treats hypocrites the way they treat others".
