Answering Yet Another Foolish Contention Pt.2

Now, I would like to address yet another issue here. There is a sister (DLJRN04) who follows the Biblical command that women are not to be teachers over men in an assembly. She does this by posting articles and related material from men of the faith. She does not teach. She lets the men of God do the teaching. She answers questions by posting responses from men of the faith rather than rejecting the command and teaching herself. Rather than encouraging and supporting this sister for her obedience to Biblical instruction, I see the other members here chide her for posting "man's opinions". Due to their own lack of obedience and rebellion, these members repeatedly enter into foolish contentions against DLJRN04.
So, what does the Word of God say? Contrary to modern opinion, the word of God is clear on this issue. I know of no verses supporting women teaching men in an assembly.
1 Tim 2:11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
They are not permitted to teach
12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
1 Timothy 3 - Notice - if a man be a bishop, etc. Not if anyone wants to be.
1 THIS is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?
Also see, Titus 1 and 1 Cor 14
So then, when are women permitted to teach men in an assembly? They are not.
Do they have any authority to teach? Yes, they do.
Titus 2:3-5
The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
Can any woman teach other women? NO.. only those who are "aged" ( that is mature in the faith) . They must also first have behavior which becometh holiness, not false accusers, not drunkards and teachers of "good things"
And I do not give a rip what Joyce Meyer or any other of her rebellious heretical ilk teach. The Bible is clear on the subject.
If dljrn04 is allowed to post and espouse her favorite authors, then Ellen White can quote her favorite author as well, and I think "God" and "The Bible" trumps "Pink" and "Calvin". And if Ellen White is a prophet, she is not speaking her own words. What's funny is, Ellen White actually supports your view of women in ministry.
"Women who are willing to consecrate some of their time to the service of the Lord should be appointed to visit the sick, look after the young, and minister to the necessities of the poor. They should be set apart to this work by prayer and laying on of hands. In some cases they will need to counsel with the church officers or the minister; but if they are devoted women, maintaining a vital connection with God, they will be a power for good in the church. This is another means of strengthening and building up the church. We need to branch out more in our methods of labor. Not a hand should be bound, not a soul discouraged, not a voice should be hushed; let every individual labor, privately or publicly, to help forward this grand work."
She was perfectly happy in her Eden home by her husband's side; but like restless modern Eves, she was flattered that there was a higher sphere than that which God had assigned her. But in attempting to climb higher than her original position, she fell far below it. This will most assuredly be the result with the Eves of the present generation if they neglect to cheerfully take up their daily duty in accordance with God's plan. A neglect on the part of woman to follow God's plan in her creation, an effort to reach for important positions which He has not qualified her to fill, leaves vacant the position that she could fill to acceptance. In getting out of her sphere, she loses true womanly dignity and nobility ( Testimonies for the Church , vol. 3, pp. 483, 484)
Acts 18:26
He began to speak boldly in the synagogue, but when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him and explained to him the way of God more accurately.
"and I think "God" and "The Bible" trumps "Pink" and "Calvin" DUH!!
Strawman :nahnah:
By the way...... you do realize that Aquila was a man right?
(Acts 18:26 [KJB:PCE])
And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.
Notice -- Aquila is mentioned first and then his wife. Also, noticed that they pulled him aside, they did not expound in an open assembly.
Usually when their is such a reaction a nerve is hit and I see I hit yours. Usually it is because it is true and one is blind to such truth. Evidence such reaction.
I guess you have an option to ignore the women's posts...this is a public forum open to men and women to post.
If someone posts disrespectful, mocking posts, it is fair for others to point it out. Many of the postings DLJRN posts are not other men's writings. I stand by my statements on another thread that some of her posts have the opposite affect than what she claims she is doing...they push people away from the God she serves. That is my opinion.
I know I have made posts that are not pleasing to God...but my posting of Scripture or my thoughts do not violate the Bible's teaching on women's roles.
"Notice -- Aquila is mentioned first and then his wife. Also, noticed that they pulled him aside, they did not expound in an open assembly."
Aquila as the head, and Priscilla as his wife, and they both explained the scriptures. That's exactly what I believe as the biblical example, and it's pretty plain in that verse, but I believe you're trying to add something to it that's not there. The bible does not allow women to subvert spiritual authority over men, that's correct, but a comprehensive study of the scriptures reveals female prophets and deaconesses and judges who are raised up by God.
"But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty"
God will raise up anyone that He chooses, do you deny that?
And yes, there are many that claim to be prophets, but you shall know them by their fruits. Adventists are most globally active church apart from the Roman Catholic Church, and that's saying a lot considering how small our denomination is.
If you'd like to discuss my beliefs instead of submitting ad hominem attacks, feel free to start a new topic.
"God has children, many of them, in the Protestant churches, and a large number in the Catholic churches, who are more true to obey the light and to do to the very best of their knowledge than a large number among Sabbath-keeping Adventists who do not walk in the light. {3SM 386.2}"
3 And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.
