When brothers dwell in unity...

Behold, how good and pleasant it is

when brothers dwell in unity!

It is like the precious oil on the head,

running down on the beard,

on the beard of Aaron,

running down on the collar of his robes!

It is like the dew of Hermon,

which falls on the mountains of Zion!

For there the LORD has commanded the blessing,

life forevermore.

(Psalm 133 ESV)

Amen, thanks for sharing. I am always amazed with the various passages people present through their individual study and reading. Even though we may have read a passage many times, it often stand sout in a new light depending on our individual need in life.

Thank you ladies, both of you for your kind words and all you contribute here in the forums. It seems to me in a community like these forums there are believers from all walks and of course there will be disagreements of doctrine (admittedly I do not know much of) and interpretation but the most important of all and what should be our core of unity is (basically) the death, burial resurrection of Christ, trusting Him alone and living in faith. I realize there is so much more too... so hope to learn and grow together and God guide us to His truth.

"our core of unity is (basically) the death, burial resurrection of Christ, trusting Him alone and living in faith"

It's not sufficient to throw around the same terminology and believe that two people are in unity. One must define and explain the terms and implications of the terms being used. "The devil is always in the details"

For example, the term "God" has very different meanings and applications to various individuals.

To a Muslim - God is Allah

To a New Ager - God is a higher power/ the universe itself

To a Hindu - a cow

To a Charismatic - Santa Claus

To mainstream Evangelicals - Themselves

.... and so on

You will quickly find out once a true detailed explanation is given, there really is very little unity at all.

To a reformer he is martin luther, Calvin and anyone they want to fit in.

It is obvious you wish to harass all that pursue the truth.

Why is it so pleasurable to you?

To a Christian: "our core of unity is (basically) the death, burial resurrection of Christ, trusting Him alone and living in faith"

The key word being Christ.

The death: Why did Christ die...to pay the blood sacrifice/death penalty for the sins of the world John 3:16

The burial: Christ laid in a new, borrowed tomb, sealed with guards

The resurrection: Christ's victory over death, hence the borrowed tomb, on the third day He arose from the dead being seen by many, up to 500 witnesses on one occasion

Trusting Him: for salvation, accepting His death as payment for sin

Living in faith: believing the promises of God bestowed upon all Christians,

The rest of the Christian walk relies on trust and faith...and wanting to please our Heavenly Father by doing His will...as Christ said 'not my will but thine be done'

Amen!
