Judas Iscariot - chosen?

John 6:70Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?

71 He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.

Was not Judas Iscariot chosen...but rejected the true calling?

Yes Judas was "chosen"...as a vessel to fulfill prophecy

Mat 27:9 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value; 10 And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me.

I havent found anything in Jeremy or Jerimiahdid find the reference in

Zechariah 11:12-14

12 And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver.

13 And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD.

14 Then I cut asunder mine other staff, even Bands, that I might break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.

Many folks argue that Judas was chosen for dishonorI

will neither agree nor disagree with thatI believe Judass heart was not with Christ...and he was the chosen vessel to do the betraying

Jhn 13:27 And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.

Did Judas reject the true calling ???.....I'm not sure...I can see it as Judas rejected Yahshua when he first thought about leading the Pharisees and Sadusees to him...however...My thoughts and reasoning are not as the Father's and this would have to be revealed by the Holy Spirit to me and so far...the Spirit has yet to confirm either way...XO

Yes...Judas was chosen.

I feel he didn't have a choice coz he had to bring to pass the prophecy and the will of God.

Jesus had to be crucified so someone had to do it(betray Him).

Prophecy are those things that are foretold from long ago, but that doesn't mean God has to MAKE them happen. He just knows they will. If God's foreknowledge could somehow be circumvented, the bible does say that He will do his supreme will, by making the stones cry out if He has to, but He doesn't need to.

And also, I do not believe Judas completely rejected Christ. God foresaw that Judas was just a Jew at heart, thinking that Jewish wealth and health and worldly power was the way to please God. I think he truly believed Jesus was the Messiah, but was trying to force Him into becoming a worldly King, defeating the Romans, and restoring the glory of the Jewish kingdom, just like what most of the Jews and disciples were hoping for. He was so disappointed and ashamed when he discovered he was wrong and that Jesus was going to let Himself be crucified that he tried to return the money and ended up killing himself because he realized he had sent his friend to the cross. Those are not the actions of someone who did not care about Jesus, but he did not understand Jesus' true mission. Really, none of the apostles did. All the apostles were vying for positions in the "kingdom". None of them understood that Jesus was going to be killed. They all were fearful and questioning their faith after the crucifixion. None of them knew Jesus rose from the dead. I would think that very few of them would have believed the resurrection if they hadn't seen it. Only Peter went to check the tomb, but even he just went away simply wondering what had happened, he was not rejoicing that Jesus was risen from the dead. Long story short, none of the apostles got it, and Judas was only slightly unique in the strength of his greed and thirst for power, but he still believed Jesus was the messiah and wanted Jesus to rule. This is not the story of a robot, I guess that's basically what I'm saying. He was a man just like the rest of his fellow disciples. Satan was the one that controlled him thru his lusts, not God, but even after he had betrayed Jesus, he felt guilt and remorse enough that he decided he needed to die to escape it.
