I still haven't seen any answer on how one can KNOW, 100%, that they are elected!Posted : 21 Oct, 2013 01:45 AMThere is a certain member here who continues to try to play "gotcha" with a few of the other members. She has presumed in her own mind that we don't have an answer to her question and have therefore been dodging it. So, she continues to hammer on it as a means to discredit us and our faith. |

I still haven't seen any answer on how one can KNOW, 100%, that they are elected!Posted : 21 Oct, 2013 10:18 AMI've always been under the impression that the bible says we can't know for sure if we're elected. For instance, the parable of the 10 virgins. All of the 10 women are virgins, all have oil and lighted lamps, this is not referring to the worldly who "commit adultery" and follow their own lusts. All the virgins had every appearance and desire to be in the "wedding feast" and all of them "fell asleep", even the wise virgins. I think this is very important to note, that all the women were virgins and had the oil and the lamps, they were exactly the same except for their preparedness in having extra oil. There are a lot of similar parables that portray the same story. The parable of the talents, the parable of the wedding feast, the parable of the sower. Many of the parables have examples of someone who is a trusted servant, or had a duty from God, or was directly called by God, or had the influence of the Word of Truth in their lives for a time, but fell away due to unfaithfulness or laziness or cares of this world. I'm of the opinion that you cannot know for sure that you are "elected" until you're staring at the Lord at His coming with the words "I have run the race, I have kept the faith" on your tongue. If in that next moment, Jesus looks at you and says "Thou faithful servant, enter into the joy of the Lord", only then will we know if our fruits were worthy. I'm sure the servant who buried his talent thought that he would be at least met with apathy, but he was cast out. I'm sure the 5 foolish virgins thought that if they ran and got more oil they would be let into the feast, but the groom didn't recognize them. My point is, it was at the end, at the "judgment", when the Lord of the country returned or the Bridegroom showed up, that the confirmation was given to the servants as to whether or not they had been faithful. The books aren't opened until the judgment and we're not allowed to read them. I think it's presumption to say we can know the mind of God, especially if we believe in the kind of sovereign God that will do whatever He pleases. Perhaps we're only allowed to think we're "elected" for a while "for His glory", and then we'll be cut off like the Israelites, for some greater purpose? |

I still haven't seen any answer on how one can KNOW, 100%, that they are elected!Posted : 21 Oct, 2013 12:54 PMYes it is biblical to know you are in the family of God but any one would be impossible to make an doctrine that excludes anyone from being unable to respond to the word of God, and answer the call to join the family of God. |

I still haven't seen any answer on how one can KNOW, 100%, that they are elected!Posted : 23 Oct, 2013 09:36 AMCan you prove to me that God exists, or show me evidence that you are saved? I just mean to say that all we have is hope and faith, and I think God did it that way on purpose. I don't think that we can know we are saved and just lock it in until Jesus shows up. |
