Do I believe in God?Posted : 4 Jan, 2014 07:04 AMUnless we have salvation there is no way to live like we are saved. We will not have the Holy Spirit guiding us in the way we should go. If I lived as though I was truly saved without asking Christ for salvation I would go to hell. We have to know and its not that hard to know. |

Do I believe in God?Posted : 4 Jan, 2014 09:02 AMI have never been able to find this prayer in the Bible or one like it. I have never been able to find a verse in the Bible that tells me I have to ask Jesus to forgive me for anything and especially my sins "against Him". I have never been able to find a verse or passage in the Bible that tells me that Jesus will give me salvation if I ask Him for it. I don't understand why the Church not only makes this stuff up but also insists that people do it in order to be saved. I think that what you mean to say is that you must say this prayer to become a Christian, as in "one of us". |

Do I believe in God?Posted : 4 Jan, 2014 12:18 PMI believe this Psalm is David's prayer after being confronted with his sin with Bathsheba and the murder of of her husband. I think it's a good example of a prayer for a believer to pray when they have sinned. David is asking that his sin be blotted out and not held against him. I would speculate that it is because it is his sin that will cause the Holy Spirit to leave him as it did Saul because of his sin. I don't think that this is an example of a prayer for a person to pray if they want to be saved because David is asking for restoration of the joy of his salvation. He already knows the salvation of God and wants the joy of it back in his spirit. As long as he has the guilt of being unclean he cannot experience the joy of his salvation. |

Do I believe in God?Posted : 4 Jan, 2014 02:24 PMI don't think redemption and restoration are the same thing. Redemption is to pay for something that was originally yours in the first place. It's like the story of the little boy with the boat that was a gift to him. He took it to the park and put it in the pond. When he accidentally let go of the string attached to the boat it drifted away and he lost it. He later found the boat for sale in a nearby store and bought it. When he left the store he said to the boat, "Now you are twice mine." He had redeemed the boat. Restoration means to repair or rebuild something back to it's original or to a better than new condition. The Bible speaks of redemption for the sinner but not for the saint and restoration for the saint but not for the sinner. Jesus sacrifice on the cross was to pay the price of redemption. Mankind originally belonged to God as His creation but was stolen from God by the fall of man in the garden. The price for redeeming mankind back to the father was the death of His Son. Therefore mankind was not restored but was redeemed. However, it is because we are redeemed that we will be restored to our original and perfect condition when we are with our Father in the future eternal Kingdom in the new Heavens and Earth. |
