Life or SOUL; Which is the correct word for these Scriptures.

Hello everyone:

There are many people which believe the English translation of the GREEK Scriptures which they are reading is correct, and they will not investigate further.

The following Scriptures are an example of words being added, taken away,or words being changed completely.

Let us look into just two verses to see where the translators have use a different word.

Matthew 20:28 Even as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.

Mark 10:45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.

The English word 'life' in both Scriptures should actually be 'SOUL'.

In the New Covenant where the Word life has been has been placed, most of the time the word 'SOUL' should have been used.

Let us be more careful , being BEREANS while reading and studying the Word of YHWH.

Let us also not be afraid to correct those which are teaching falsely,or ignorantly.

Shalom

Do you have a presentation of your theory that I may consider it?

At the risk of being called ignorant Ill just stick with life.

I would think to be ignorant would be to believe your statement with no thesis.

Hi flyby:

Thank you for your reply.

Let us look into the Scriptures i had posted about the Word of GOD being translated with prejudices.

Mat_20:28 Even as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.

Mar_10:45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.

(KJV+) Even asG5618 theG3588 SonG5207 of manG444 cameG2064 notG3756 to be ministered unto,G1247 butG235 to minister,G1247 andG2532 to giveG1325 hisG848 lifeG5590 a ransomG3083 forG473 many.G4183

Please notice the numbers next to each word, this is the Strongs numbering system for looking up the words in the Scriptures.

Next to the word ' LIFE ' is the number 5590,let us see what Greek word this number represents.

G5590

ψυχή

psuchē

psoo-khay'

From G5594; breath, that is, (by implication) spirit, abstractly or concretely (the animal sentient principle only; thus distinguished on the one hand from G4151, which is the rational and immortal soul; and on the other from G2222, which is mere vitality, even of plants: these terms thus exactly correspond respectively to the Hebrew [H5315], [H7307] and [H2416]: - heart (+ -ily), life, mind, soul, + us, + you.

Notice the number 2222, ( G2222 )

ζωή

zōē

dzo-ay'

From G2198; life (literally or figuratively): - life (-time). Compare G5590.

In the definition, this is one of the Greek words for the English word ' LIFE ' this Greek word is ZOE',the other Greek word for life is BIOS ( G979 )

βίος

bios

bee'-os

A primary word; life, that is, (literally) the present state of existence; by implication the means of livelihood: - good, life, living.

where we get out English words Biology,Biography.

See how the Word of GOD can be changed by using the wrong word(s),then when someone teaches using the wrong word(s) we have error going forth, and people begin misled.

Shalom

Hi guys! I'm feeling like I'm toward the deep end, but I'll try to contribute...

That looks like some thorough stuff you've shared, Gracenotworkssaves, thankyou! But I'm wondering if you (or maybe Strong) are treating Hebrew and Koine as codes of each other.

You've presented that definition for G5594 as something like "breath" <it>rather</it> than "life", and that's not wrong, per s. But if you consider the audience for whom, and by whom, Matthew and Mark were written, then the word literally meaning "breath" has HEAVY connotations of "life". The Hebrew words for breath, spirit, and life are very closely related at this point in time, and all the more so theologically (remember God granting Man the breath of life, back in the garden of Eden).

Just a few thoughts, and I'd like to hear yours, too :-).

Hi Bloodnok:

Thank you for your reply.

I do not see myself as wading in the deep end of the pool of life, my feet are just barely touching the water.

I am not trying to persuade others to think as i think,i only want to get people to think for themself. I find in christianity the senior pastors, pastors, elders and others taking titles for themselves;these do not teach people to think, instead they are too busy telling others how they should be living.

Messiah taught others how to think, with parables, allegories, and figures of speech.

I find one of the best things believers can do is to teach others how to think, and how to read the Word of GOD Almighty.
