KEEP His commandments
Posted : 3 Sep, 2014 05:33 AM

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: fear God and keep His commandments:bow:, for this is man's all.

 Ecclesiastes 12:13

Should we OBEY God keeping/implementing His commands?

God said:

Leviticus 22:31

So you shall keep my commandments and do them: I am the Lord."

The Son of God says:

Matthew 5:17-22

Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them :bow:and teaches them :angel:will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you, unless your righteousness :angel:exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus tells to Christians:

Matthew 7:21-23

Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name? And then will I declare to them, I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness:angeldevil:.

1 John 3:21-24

Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God; and whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep:bow: his commandments and do :angel:what pleases him. And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ:applause: and love:hearts: one another, just as he has commanded us. Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God:hearts:, and God:angel: in him.

And by this we know that we have come to know him (GOD), if we keep his commandments:bow:. Whoever says I know him but does not keep his commandments is a liar:angeldevil::devil:, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps his word:angel::hearts:, in him truly the love of God:hearts: is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: whoever says he abides in him ought to walk :hearts::angel:in the same way in which he walked.

The Son of God says:

If you love me, keep my commands.

John 14:15

If you are seeking fulfillment, purpose, or meaning from this world and from human accomplishments, I have some bad news: you will never find it. There is nothing in the world that will fill the deepest void in your lifenot the ultimate car, not the greatest job, not the most beautiful girl or the most handsome guy, not the greatest education. There is nothing that can even come close.

King Solomon, one of the wealthiest men who ever lived, had everything he wanted. Yet he went on a binge, trying to satisfy his appetites with the wrong things. He went after passion. He went after possessions. He went after things of beauty and buildings and land. He drank, and he partied. After all of that, here was his conclusion: "Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun" (Ecclesiastes 2:11, NLT).

Have you ever been ravenously hungry and tried to satisfy your appetite with snacking? It just doesn't work. You want a real meal. In the same way, we were created with a God-shaped hole in our lives. We have been created to love God, to know God, and to bear fruit. Everything else is secondary.

Think about it: everything else in life, every other responsibility, no matter how significant, must be ordered behind the central purpose of your existence on earthknowing, loving, and serving your Creator. Yes, God cares about your career, your marriage, your family, and your ministry. But knowing Him, prioritizing Him, is number one. And when you do, the Bible says you never will be a loser for it.

Jesus said it like this: "Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously:angel::hearts:, and he will give you everything you need" (Matthew 6:32-33, NLT).

Hi Versavia:

I would like you to learn the basics in translating the Word of GOD,as you do not know what you are talking about when you write about the Word of GOD.

When G OD Almighty says to 'KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS' He is not telling you to OBEY them HE is telling you not to change the way they are.

Also a person is to GUARD the Word of GOD form being used to hurt others, especially those telling others to tithe, and to obey.

Blessings

>>When G OD Almighty says to 'KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS' He is not telling you to OBEY them HE is telling you not to change the way they are.

So ... is saying we need to OBEY the commandments changing them in some way? A commandment is intended to be obeyed, isn't it? Wouldn't saying we did NOT need to obey the commandment be changing it? Or, worse, countermanding it?

Lets look at some Scriptures that confirm what George is saying about keeping the Commandments...

Exo 16:28 And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws?

Keep Strong's H8104 - shamar - to keep, guard, observe, give heed

Prov 3:1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

Keep Strong's H5341 natsar - to guard, watch, watch over, keep

Jesus speaking here ~

John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

Keep Strong's G5083 - tre - to attend to carefully, take care of to guard metaph. to keep, one in the state in which he is to observe

*** I only find "Obey" in Duet 11:27-28...we are instructed to "Obey the Commanmentswhich Obviouslysinners can't...

*** The Commandments bring Conviction of Sinthey are the Moral Law...it is our "Tutor" to bring us to Christ...we are Unable to Obey themhowever..."The Law is perfect converting the soul" Psalm 19:7...that is why God sent His SON YahshuaJesusHe is the Fullfillment of the Law... :o)

*** We are to Obey Gods Voice WordTruthand Do His Commandmentsonce we know/learn of our "Sin" and Repent of them...Jesus Regenerates us to "Keep" His Commandments...

I have no problem with the idea that "keep" entails more than just "obey".

But that it somehow fails to include "obey" makes not sense.

Commandment: "Thou shalt not steal"

Let's keep it by being sure we know what the words mean and that we make sure we don't misinterpret it to either condemn or excuse what it does not.

But ... once you know what the commandment says and you give it a lot of reverence ... go ahead and steal.

WHAT?

Surely, this is not what you are arguing!

*** "Keep" does not entail "obey" at all...I wrote exactly what I wrote and it makes Perfect sense that Keep and Obey are two completely differant "Words" and "Mean" two completely differant things ... please read the scriptures I listed...

Deut 11:27 A blessing, if ye obey [ H8085 ] the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day: 28 And a curse, if ye will not obey [ H8085 ] the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.

*** Obey - Strong's H8085 - shama` - [[[ to hear, listen to, obey ]]]...

** Keep - Strong's H5341 - natsar - once again means... [[[ to guard, watch, watch over, keep ]]]...

*** Keep -Strong's G5083 - tereo - one again means...

[[[ to attend to carefully, take care of to guard ]]]

Keep doesnt say or mean "Obey"....I didnt create the Words nor their Meanings nor Write the Scriptures...I only present the Truth here...

*** Hear is links to look at and you can read the verses for your self...I really get tired of posting stuff for folks when they don't take time to research it...It is my hope that this can bring some sense of understanding to everyone... :o)

Guy, finally you know that to KEEP God's commands means to IMPLEMENT them.

Our Churches do NOT want to teach this, that is why you have problems in understanding it.

But GOD is our Teacher and He teaches us in the Holy Scripture to obey Him and DO what He says otherwise we will be just tares like millions of fake/in-the-name-only Christians who will finally get to the Lake of Fire....

Every tree:devil::angeldevil::toomuch::buddies::Mug: that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

Matthew 7:19

18"A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. 19"Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20"So then, you will know them by their fruits.

When we KEEPthat is, OBSERVE/IMPLEMENT, remember, and APPLYthe commands of Jesus Christ, God explains that many rewards will follow.

1) God will love us and reveal Himself to us.

He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him (John 14:21).

2) God will dwell with us.

If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him (John 14:23).

We will abide in Gods love and our joy will be full.

If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Fathers commandments, and abide in his love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full (John 15:1011).

3) We will belong to God.

And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. . . . Whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him (I John 2:3, 5). If ye love me, keep my commandments (John 14:15).

4) We will show love to Gods children/Christians.

By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments (I John 5:2).

5) We will be friends of Christ. He will consider us as His friends and NOT enemies.

Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you (John 15:14).

6) Our prayers will be answered.

And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight (I John 3:22).

7) We will be disciples/believers in the Son of God.

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another (John 13:3435).

Hello Hoosier:

Thank you for your response.

Most people will never be told the truth about the Word of GOD,as most people calling themselves by a title do not know the Word of GOD for themself.

Look at the condition of the 'church',it is in such disarray, that men and women have made the Word of GOD a means for making money, instead of getting life from the Word of GOD.

How many people actually know how to read, study, translate, and interpret the Word of GOD,NOT MANY.

The Gospel has been changed from 'Repent of your UNBELIEF' believe the GOSPEL;to repent of your sins and trust Jesus, there is a big difference between these two statements.

The translators have changed the word 'soul' for the word 'life' in most of the New Covenant Scriptures.

The word 'Grace' has been changed to 'GIFT/ Gifts' in most of the New Covenant Scriptures.

The word 'some' has been added to this Scripture;

Eph 4:11 And indeed He gave some to be apostles; and some prophets; and some evangelists; and some pastors and teachers;

Eph 4:12 with a view to the perfecting of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ,

Eph 4:13 until we all may come to the unity of the faith and of the full knowledge of the Son of God, to a full-grown man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ,

Here is a Scripture that has been completely changed.

Joh 10:11 I am the Good Shepherd! The Good Shepherd lays down His life on behalf of the sheep.

This should read:

I am the valuable Shepherd, the valuable Shepherd places His 'SOUL' OVER the sheep.

This is the reason Messiah says to GUARD,WATCH OVER,PROTECT my Word from being changed.

When the Word of GOD is changed then we not only change what He says to us,we also change what He has revealed about Himself through His Word.

Blessings
