My favorite things:

My daughter and I recently went to a reshowing of a classical movie that somehow escaped being see by her during 27 years of life. I had forgotten how moving it was. My greatest enjoyment was watching her watch the movie. The movie really pulls at the heart. I guess best of all for me, is the way family interacts. I was raised the oldest of 5. It wasnt hard at all for me to connect with the Trapp family. We were and still are today a musical family.

That aside, The Sound of Music, made me think more deeply after hearing the song My Favorite Things. If you recall the words of the song, you remember the favorite things were of themselves small daily blessing that God so richly gives to His children. This gave me pause to think of some of my own. Here they are in no particular order:

The feeling I felt when I watched my children come into the world, and to think I had a part in that miracle.

Lying on the summer grass after the sun has set and looking up into the sky to see the billions of stars set in place by my heavenly Father.

Vacations at Carolina Beach staying at the Doggett Cottages with the surf pounding against the pilings and making the whole house sway.

Going to my Grandmothers and getting to spend the night. Waking up to my favorite treat of French toast that only she could make.

Painting my first house in trade for my first car, 1966 Chevy Impala, with bald tires of course.

Spending time with my Dad working on all the Junkers I acquired.

Sneaking in the kitchen when my mom wasnt looking to taste all the good things cooking, especially at holidays.

Having enough brothers and sisters to take on the neighborhood in backyard football.

I could probably go on forever. I think of these blessings especially when life seems unfair or I have a pity party. I also know that God cares about my future and Hes excited when good comes to His children. I would love to see the list of Gods favorite things. Oops, almost forgot, I can! Its in the living Word. God didnt leave us to struggle. He gave the ultimate, His Son! And yes, I would bet one of Gods favorite things is YOU!

Would like to hear from you, youre favorite things, and those indispensable little blessings that God so freely gives His own. God be with you all. Amen.

Ummmm...some of my favorite things, well I can remember as a child at Christmas with my siblings. We never really got what we wanted under the tree, but we made the best of whatever we had...sharing with each other(smile)!

We use to use the bulb Christmas ornaments to make funny faces... till we cried! Oh how simple things were then...how easy it was to love!! How content we were to just be together!! Oh boy I better stop here...I'm starting to feel a little sentimental!! Thanks OP for this chance to just reflect...remember! God's best.
