Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
"You need to know that you are a 'sinner'."
Romans 5:8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
Luke 18:13
And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
"You need to confess all of your sins(that is all i would be doing everyday)."
1 John 1:8
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
"You need to change the direction you are going, you need to make u turn and follow Jesus."
Matthew 7:13
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
"Not one of these are the Gospel,so then what is the Gospel."
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
"You do not need to do any good works, you are not working for GOD Almighty."
Luke 10:1
After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.
"You do non need to give any money, not one thin dime."
1 Timothy 6:17
Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
"You do not need to do anything at all, Ephesians 2: 8-10."
James 2:14
What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
We don't "NEED" to do anything, but a good seed brings forth good fruit. If you're not bringing forth good fruit, then there is something wrong. However, in a sense, you are right. The gospel of Jesus is simply the good news about His life, death, and resurrection, but belief in that good news is supposed to naturally lead to repentance, conversion, and good works.
People are not 'sinners' another bad translation, they are 'sinful'.
Repent just means to change your mind,Peter did not write that one needs to repent of sin, read that all over again, using the Greek text for the truth, the English is just a bit too much distorted for truth.
6For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
It's not so much about the translation in my view, it's about principles. We were sinners, enemies of God, not just "sinful", and honestly, what's the difference? Mountains out of mole hills, sir. If we commit sin, we sin, we are sinners, we are sinful. Those are all equivalent statements. We must turn from our sinfulness by repentance, by Christ changing our minds from sinful minds, from the minds of sinners, to the mind of a new creature who is no longer a sinner, or sinful. Can you explain to me why you think these word translations are such a big deal? I just don't see the difference, and you're basically causing "division" over something that is meaningless. Once we are new creatures, we are no longer slaves to sin, we're no longer sinful or a sinner, even if we do sin, as long as we continually struggle and gain the victory against sin thru the power of Jesus.
When a person says they are a sinner, they believe that is their POSITION,before GOD Almighty, actually a persons position in Messiah is that of being a SON,their CONDITION is that of being SINFUL. One needs to understand their position and their position. How many times this week will someone here YOU ARE A SINNER,REPENT.
Ok, so you're talking about someone who has already repented, who doesn't need to continue to repent because they have already changed their minds? I was under the impression you were saying we don't ever need to repent, and never refer to ourselves as sinners.
Pertaining to the dirrection the post is going at this time with Sinner, Sinful, Position and Condition...
The Roman Road as it has been termed is most helpful in understanding Position and Conditionthere are many other Scriptures in other books and chapters of the Bible to use for this purpose, however I find these to be very simple for most folks to understand ;)
When a person is Born Againtheir Position is Righteousness Rom 3:21-26; 4:5-8; 4:21-25
A persons Condition is we ARE Sinners and HAVE a Sinful nature Rom 6:10-13
A person BecameServents of Righteousness Rom 6:18
Romans 8:10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
A person HAS the Spirit which is Life because of righteousness
Halleluyah !!! :bouncy:
Telling a person that has no clue they are a Sinner and have a Sinful nature and are in Need and Require a Saviour isnt going to work out very wellthey get offendedthats why when Evangelizing its a really good to use the Law and Prophets so they can see for themselves they are a Sinner and have a Sinful natureif a person can see the Commandments and see they have broken probably most of them :angeldevil:... well then its the Open Door and the HolySpirit of the LORD will Convict and then the LORD working through us will call them and lead them HimSelfPraise GOD !!! :yay:
ExampleHave ya ever asked someone if they are Religious?...Ive gotten the answerNo but I am SpiritualI reply withwellquess what
Man is spiritually dead, sinful, and under Gods judgment Rom 1:18-2:16 and Christ died for our sins, 1 Cor 15:1-8, and rose for our justication, Rom 4:16-5:2when a person Recites and Quotes the Scriptures...even show them in the Bible while saying the Scriptures sayIt plants the Seed :excited:
Nowas far as telling a Born Again Christian You are a Sinner Repent is not good. It would be placing the person doing the telling in the Position as the ultimate Judge and no person has that Position except Christ Jesus. Now if a person who Professes to be a Born Again Christian and their Fruit aka Walk, Talk, Deeds, is showing the opposite of Righteousnesswellthats a whole other ball of wax and topic of discussionJohn 7:24; 1 Cor 6
Hey George...:waving:...where did ya go ?...I'm still waiting for you to return to your post and share with us all what the Gospel is...:bouncy: X <>< O
