Rav Shaul? You talkin about Paul?



Very interesting 90 second video youtube on the use of the word "rav" in relation to Paul. According to the speakers, "rav" was a title given to teachers outside of Israel, specifically those in Babylon. Paul wasn't from Babylon. He was from Israel.



My take: Rav is an inappropriate title for a native Israeli rabbi. Using this pejorative word to refer to Paul, is in fact, an insult to his standing.
