"HOW TO LIVEN UP YOUR MARRIAGE"

A good marriage does not come about by accident or chance. It happens only when both partners are interested enough to take the time and trouble to keep it that way. If we are successful in our marriages, we can also have God's blessing and victory in our ministry.

Following are 50 ideas for stimulating and enriching your marriage.

WHAT THE HUSBAND CAN DO

1. Kiss your wife at least three times a day; perhaps even in public.

2. Treat your wife with the same courtesy as you do a client.

3. Give her flowers while she can see and smell them.

4. Never forget to praise her cooking.

5. Give her gifts that you know she would like; not the ones you think she needs.

6. Do not raise your voice, but try to speak sweetly.

7. Avoid complaints, such as "What have you been doing all day, anyway."

8. Before making decisions, consult your wife and value and accept her suggestions with good grace.

9. Don't wait for her to do the jobs that are your responsibility as the man of the house.

10. Take some short vacations with your family.

11. Tell your wife how happy you are that you married her.

12. Recognize your wife's talents in front of others. In doing this others will esteem you more.

What the Wife Can Do

13. Tell your friends how happy you are in your marriage. They will tell your husband and he will try even harder to be a better husband.

14. Treat your husband with the same tenderness as you do your children.

15. Do not greet your husband with problems or talk about them at meal times. Wait for an appropriate moment to do it.

16. Don't remind him all the time that he is getting old.

17. When he comes home from work, greet him with a kiss.

18. Never criticize your husband in front of the children or anyone else.

19. Remember what you did and said before marriage, repeat it now.

20. Don't scold your husband if he wants to act like a clown at a party. Enjoy it with him.

21. Keep yourself well groomed and attractive at home.

22. Be expressive and loving all the time, not just once in a while.

23. Don't keep on asking if he loves you. Believe him when he says he does.

24. Prepare your husband's favorite dishes for him.

25. Keep the house neat and clean even when he is away from home.

What Both Can Do

26. Don't call each other "mommy and daddy". Rather use endearing terms such as "dear", "honey", "darling", "treasure"or "my love".

27. Don't let the sun go down on angry feelings or words. Resolve your problems before going to bed.

28. Pray together before going to bed. Problems will be easier to solve.

29. Study the Bible together taking turns reading.

30. Set aside a weekly time for recreation as a family.

31. Try not to both get angry or discouraged at the same time.

32. Respect each others individuality and privacy.

33. If possible, have children.

34. Walk together for exercise, at least once a week.

35. Approach problems together, as a family.

36. Get rid of furniture that is irritating.

37. Get away by yourselves for a weekend at least four times a year.

38. Develop your photography skills and make albums of memories.

39. Always have plans and projects for the future.

40. Turn off the TV or radio if you want to have a good communication.

41. If at all possible, don't live with relatives or have other people living in your house for long periods.

42. Use inclusive language; say "our" children, not "my" children.

43. Express appreciation and congratulations to each other publicly.

44. Never say or think that your marriage was a mistake.

45. Go shopping and to church and concerts together.

46. Do not permit the use of tobacco or alcohol in your home.

47. Remember anniversaries and birthdays.

48. Write love notes or letters to each other often.

49. Have a single budget for the family.

50. Take vacations together or as a family often.
