A New "Great Awakening"

I address this to all who have died to their sin and confessed Jesus as Lord and Savior...

There have been a few (3?) periods of spiritual awakening in America. One of them started the anti-slavery movement, if I have my history correct. We are in need of another. Franklin Graham echoes this in his article entitled �Praying for the Next Great Awakening� on his father's web site:

I want to encourage everyone in this group to commit at least one time per week to praying first for spiritual and then for cultural/political change within the United States. For a couple of friends of mine and I, that time is Monday night. For you it could be any time/day that works best for you, or more than once if you feel so led. It doesn�t matter. I just want God�s people to commit to regularly praying for America:

a) for the purity and effectiveness of God�s body within it;

b) for the lost to repent and turn to Jesus;

c) and then for a cultural and political renaissance that sees America turn back to her founding principles (as expressed in the Declaration of Independence and the US constitution), which were based on Biblical values.

One of the war cries of some of the American revolutionaries was 'No King but Jesus!'. Wouldn�t you want to see that be a contemporary cry of your fellow Americans?

Of course if you feel led to pray differently, then do so. I just want to implore my brothers and sisters to pray for the return of their nation to sanity, and that will start when the church is spiritually sound and engaged in the culture, on all levels of that culture (from their jobs and neighborhoods, all the way toward national politics, as each person is called).

I do pray for my president and his family to be kept safe and out of harm's way and that he do God 's will.
