2 Corinthians 11:4

New International Version

For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.

New Living Translation

You happily put up with whatever anyone tells you, even if they preach a different Jesus than the one we preach, or a different kind of Spirit than the one you received, or a different kind of gospel than the one you believed.

Serious warning from Paul about the preaching of a “different Jesus”!!

We’ve seen on this forum the preaching of a reinvented different kind of “jesus” who supposedly “speaks” or “reveals” himself to people in ways that are contrary to the Written Word of God.

The fact that some people speak of a “jesus” who acts different and says things that are contrary to the written revelation endorsed by the real Jesus should be a tip off to a different kind of false “jesus”.

Yet people preach a “jesus” who is “not THE Son of God”, or who “is not God” or who was “not born of a virgin” or that being born of a virgin “doesn’t matter”.

Of course the Muslim religion also preaches a different “Jesus”. The Muslim “jesus” “is not” a Son of God, was “not crucified” and most certainly “is not” the 2nd Person of the Trinity.

Yet Christians in recent years believe a “revival” of sorts is going on in Muslim lands because people there are supposedly “seeing dreams” of Jesus, “receiving mighty healings” and Jesus is reportedly appearing to people saying things that are contrary to the written word of God!!

Yet the Bible says the real Jesus won’t come back to earth until his predicted second coming. It would be nice if Christians actually believed the God of the Bible and stopped falling for false “appearances” of all these fake

“jesuses”

Lots of people have problems with the biblical Jesus who confronts sin and calls for repentance. So instead of repenting and turning from sin, these people just reinvent a new “Jesus”. A sorta of “nice jesus” who heals them and loves them “just the way they are”. Who is quiet about sin and doesn’t interfere or judge their adulteries or whatever other sin they love!

Jesus certainly “receives people the way they are” but people seem to forget he also sanctifies them, which means he works in their hearts to repent and not to keep on sinning habitually.

This is not new. Jesus actually healed hordes of people and the crowds loved him for it but when he started talking about sin and repentance the crowds began to thin.

Jesus taught many but they went away when he preached against sin (for a complete context, see John 6), partial quote below

John 6:

66From that time on many of His disciples turned back and no longer walked with Him. 67So Jesus asked the Twelve, “Do you want to leave too?”

68Simon Peter replied, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69We believe and know that You are the Holy One of God.f ”

70Jesus answered them, “Have I not chosen you, the Twelve? Yet one of you is a devil!” 71He was speaking about Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. For although Judas was one of the Twelve, he was later to betray Jesus.
