Hi, I'm Phil
I'm an honest, jovial, and faithful seeker of God wanting to get the most out of life by committing to be the best I can be mentally, physically and spiritually. As such, I expect you might be looking for someone like me who will also expect the most out of you.
I'd like to share with you some truths I believe are at the core of me.
Jesus showed us the way to deny ourselves to carry our own cross and I truly believe the family who worships together will stay together. God hates divorce and so do I. People give up too early instead of seeking clarity from God and his journey of reconciliation.
True worship I believe starts with reading God's word every day - it is not a crutch - it is a life-line. We are meant to be planted beside a well-watered spring to receive the blessing he has for us each day. He is the blessing we receive. Prayer is a given. Without prayer there is no unity in the Spirit. We need to pray so we can be like his children, seeking to honour, to ask, and to listen. We do not pray alone, but by his Spirit. He will guide us and lead us to an intimate relationship with himself.
The Psalms speak of devotion, in action and in proclamation. We are the representation of Christ when we love God and when we love each other. My mother taught me to remember the acronym JOY - Jesus then Others then Yourself. We are made to serve the king and have a duty to represent him to others; importantly, we are to put ourselves last.
God has called me to lead and both of us (or whoever wins my heart) are to submit to each other in love, putting each other's needs before our own, yet ultimately seeking God's plan and intent for every decision.
When we commit our way to the Lord, He will make our path straight.
As such, I am not one to indulge in extravagances. There are many simple pleasures in life and special treats and occasions are well worth appreciating. But life is not about money and life is not about pleasure.
I and my household will seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.
