When women wear tight clothing?

I was wondering the ladies thoughts on this and who better to ask. Ok, I notice alot of girls/women wear really tight clothing. Is this to draw attention to themselves more so than a fashion statement? Many women wear really tight jeans, slacks, shirts etc....they have to know this draws attention correct?

Seems to me there are more than enough loose fitting options out there, as long as you arent shopping in the Juniors department. Baggy tops like babydoll and tunic shirts are a big thing, although women usually like to pair them with tights or leggings. Wideleg jeans are also around and are very flattering without looking painted on. There are a lot of options out there, but style-conscious women probably see a lot of them as dowdy or unflattering. The problem I see most with womens clothing that is hard to avoid is the THINness of the materials used to make our clothes. I own tons of shirts, but I hate most of them because you can see everything through them even if they arent tight they cling, and are basically see-through! I can see my bellybutton through a lot of my shirts and I hate it.

So TIGHTness, in my opinion, IS avoidable, but I think a lot of women either dont think about it or actually WANT the tightness, whether it be for cuteness, style, or attracting that kind of attention. And I definitely agree with Tulip that a lot of women are more concerned with competing with each other. They want a look that shows off their body, but to the other women. A lot of women dont think about what might be happening in a mans mind thats how you get the women who dress like they are asking for it and then are offended and outraged when men only love them for their bodies or what have you. They just think they are being women and doing what women do, and its starting younger and younger.

Siylii,

If you let your beautiful strawberry blonde hair grow out, no one would even notice your belly button or tight fitting jeans : )

DonthithatMark...I'm not flirting ...just saying...ok maybe a little, but I'm harmless.

hmmmm....I just had a thought, *light bulb*... maybe that is why long hair is bibical; it diverts a man's attention away from the 'lustful' areas?

Ok, just a thought, I get them, but this one I am not prepared to back up...hahaha

Well, my sister is size conscious. It doesn't matter how tight it is as long as the size is the one she wants. Oh boy, she will say. Look, I am wearing a size 12. My thought...oh dear...I've seen sausage stuffed in casings with more wiggle room than that. Those seams are going to explode any minute...and if they don't, your circulation is going to be cut off.

On the other hand, she looks at me in my dresses and can't understand why I like them the way I do. So, perception is in the eye of the beholder.

It's been happening here too, sillybilly. I think a lot of people are starting to embrace more of an attitude of "God doesn't care that I dress up, he cares that I show up" (I've actually heard people say things like this, if not exactly that, many times). "Dress jeans"... huh... I have jeans that I would wear to more things than others, but I wouldn't call them 'dressy'... there are my regular jeans and what I call my '[insert word similar to crud that is censored on the forums] jeans', the kind of things I wear hiking or whatever. It does seem like skirts and dresses are going more and more out of casual fashion... And Elisa brings up a good point... had she not brought it up I would this time around: I was just helping my friend find pajamas for his little sister, who is a women's small, and we couldn't find any smalls in the endless supply they had. "The worst part is," he said, "is that half of them probably went to women who really needed a larger size...." He said it mostly out of frustration, but he had an excellent point. Women take sizes to heart, and don't want to think that they are "large" or "extra large", so they sacrifice an appropriate fit for a more flattering size name. I hope that if I ever get to a point where I'm no longer a small or extra-small that I am able to swallow my pride and grab the correct size... And Sparrow, if I believed it worked that way I would be all over that, but I find with shorter hair people look me in the face a lot more. :goofball: And I hate to tell you this, but... my hair has been growing in increasingly darker over the years, and... it's turning brown. I hope we can still be friends....

Funny enough, when I see a girl in a pair of khakis and an oxford I'm going to find her far more attractive than if she's in all that trendy tight skimpy stuff. Granted, I know my tastes are not that of every guy, but Brooks Brothers hasn't been in business for almost 200 years because nobody likes their stuff.

Modest is hottest!

The immodesty among "God's people" shows how deep in the dumper american Christianity has stooped.

A godly woman will desire to cover up. A worldly woman will not. It's not hard to tell them apart. They know EXACTLY what they're doing when they wear tight clothes. It won't fly to say appropriate clothing can't be found. I know plenty of ladies in the holiness and Mennonite realms that do know how a godly woman is expected to dress.

Women do know the affects of tight clothing have on men, I think that is the reason why they wear it so they can get attention. I for one don't want to be noticed cause I have a tight dress on or my clevege showing cause subcounciously men are thinking I am easy. Women come off as "easy" then get mad when a man insinuates something. We are not to be stumbling blocks unto our brothers!

I've read so many of these replies...what surprises me is that I grew up with a clear understanding that how women dress affect men. I think the way we dress sometimes is very selfish. We choose to look "cute" over "frumpy" or "modest". The only thing is that modesty is often defined by culture. What we consider modest now was "hoochy mama" 20 years ago. When I get dressed I want to look in the mirror and know that I look "cute" but I also want whatever I'm wearing to reflect that I'm different from so many other girls walking down the street.

I just feel like there is a huge disconnect between who we are in Christ and how we choose to live in our daily lives. It is so strange to me to walk into churches and see women in strapless dresses with the hem hardy below their bottoms, or super low cut blouses with tight jeans. The matter of modesty really just boils down to a heart issue.
