Friends First?

Okay,

Here is my problem. I think that it is very important to know who the girl is before considering a dating relationship. This seems to be a problem for a lot of women. I treat them the way the bible says as sisters. The bible says to treat younger women as sisters. So therefore if it is not appropriate for a brother and sister then it is not appropriate for me to do with this girl I am getting to know. So why is it that most women I have met seem to think that it is not important to have boundaries physically and that friends first should be a must?

I am seriously having to bite my tongue...er, fingers...to keep from saying exactly what I think. I will say, though, that I disagree with this fellow's ideas. Romance is NOT purely physical, and it is a very important part of dating. Also, I have pretty strict boundaries that I've set for myself when it comes to the physical aspects of a relationship, but this guy makes me look like a "loose woman"! No holding hands? Wow. I don't consider that to be at ALL inappropriate.

Shawn67, good post. All of those things are romantic, and can be achieved in a most moral manner. And I agree that if a guy isn't willing to do any of that before marriage, why would he suddenly change and do it after marriage?

You can probably put this one on my tab. I feel kind of bad about it though since I really was just trying to understand where he was coming from so I could help him better. Oh well. Live and learn.

Tulip you did great, that wasn't you fault. This fellow has his own paradigm outside of which everything else is sin therefore not worthy of consideration.

It's only fitting that this would happen. I had to chase off a super duper conservative guy to balance out the super duper liberal guy I chased off earlier.

This is the weirdest leaving of the forums I have witnessed... Nobody had really even criticized his stance, just asked him to clarify what it was. It looks like he was already gone before BCP dealt the first open criticism.

So, talking is no longer tolerable forum behavior. Cool.

We should have a forum support group for those of us that are responsible for people leaving the site! We could invest in a communal pair of virtual boxing gloves to keep the damage down, and have practice sessions on stubbornly defending our beliefs in the nicest way possible. Too bad it wouldn't help though...I honestly think that some people just can't tolerate discussions that involve disagreeing opinions.

First of all I respect your thoughts. Most people in today's society want immediate gratifacation. Movies and love song, show two people falling madly inlove (in lust) rush off and starting a relationship. However if you notice the divorce rates climbing, we can see that it's not the healthiest start. You are on the right page. But remember, if a woman is brought to you by God, you will both have an equal understanding as well as being evenly yoked. Good luck my brother, I pray God sends you the one who wants to join the journey as you do.

Yeah, I was trying to be nice, but sometimes I just can't keep quiet about things. I normally tend to agree with the more conservative people on here, but not this time. I'm sorry he left, though. I would like to have heard him clarify his position.
