How many times have you heard a woman say 'I want a man to be the leader, but if he won't lead then I have to'

I don't think they necessarily mean lead as in actually lead, if the man doesn't lead his family then he will have to take it up with the Lord, perhaps they just mean they'd have to make decisions, like if the husband doesn't really want to work, then the woman would then have to go to work because the kids still need to eat. Say if the husband wasn't leading the family in Christ, reading them the bible, praying with the children and trying to get them to better understand the Lord, then the woman would have to that, same with disciplining the children, if the husband won't do it, then the wife has to, she should first try to pray really really hard that the Lord moves her husband to do those things, and works in his heart.

Those are some of the duties the husband should take up, but if he won't do it, the kids will probably be hungry, rowdy and not hear much about the Lord.

At that point, it's a bit like being a single mother, though, your husbands should try to be actively involved, and support their families. The bible says a man who doesn't take care of his family is worse than an infidel. (That is a person who doesn't believe in God at all)

If they are actually talking about leading, how does one lead? You can't lead a man, you really can't, he can only be led by the Lord.

But in all seriousness, pray, because the Lord works in people's hearts, if your husband isn't doing right, the Lord can change his heart.

Man is the head of the house but the wife is the neck that turns the head. Noah 52:3

I agree with river. Men are called to be the head of the household, spiritual leader in the home, we are to take on the leadership role. The husband is to protect and defend his marriage, family and home. We are to take responsibility for the spiritual, emotional, and physical well being of our wife and family.

A guy who demonstrates a lack of leadership skills should be one to avoid. Now there are many reasons why lack of leadership in men is as much of a problem as it is today or is as common as it is today. It's partly do to the feminist movement which has sought to "equalize" the roles of men and women in what they view as "male dominated" society. Which comes from an ignorant interpretation of biblical roles. A feminist will read what the bible and say that it diminishes women and elevates men. But the bible does nothing to diminish women but rather calls us to honor them. Head of the household, and or the man's call to be the leader in the home is not a call to be a dictator. Which is the conclusion that I believe the feminist movement has jumped to. Leadership in a Christian marriage, home, family, etc is one in which the man takes the leadership role but does so with his wife by his side and values her input and opinions. So just as a guy who demonstrates lack of leadership should be avoided so should a guy who exhibit a lack of love, care, and interest in sound council. Just as in Corinthians we are called to love our wives as Christ loves the church. We are to lead not with an iron fist but with a gentle and loving manner.

I could not disagree with you more River!!!

To suggest that a man is a wimp because the woman is head of the household is nonsense. Why is it ok for a woman to be a follower but not a man?

Women just say they want a leader. When it comes time to submit and follow the leader they get neck spasms. Maybe they just prefer to be led by another woman??
