From a Sister to My Sisters...Dream a little Dream Wedding Day White?

 Hey fellow Princesses of the Redeemer:) I just want to say I so enjoy seeing all your posts and meeting you all in chat and prayer rooms.

I saw this post on another site about wearing white or mot for second weddings, it was cute but turned into this big debate.

My Question is ... Would you consider wearing white, not off white or ecru, or antique, ..LOL Just Bride White? for a second or beyond wedding? Remember that could be for a widow or a divorced woman either one.

My take to be honest...LOL Weddings are for God to unite a couple and make covenant between them into a marriage no matter which number it is. Anything that promotes the feelings of joy when the vows happen for that couple is beautiful and tradition is not important to me. Relatives and friends should support what ever...big wedding or small or elopement white, or even pink...register for gifts or dont ... whatever you want as long as it honors God and your new husband:)

Good question, Princess!

(how come they don't have a bride 'happy face' I can insert here? :excited: )

I saved myself for my husband 30 years ago, and though that ended 22 years ago, I have saved myself for the lucky man who finally asks for directions and finds me!! I have earned the so-called 'right' to wear white. However, I already know what I will wear on that day, and though it incorporates white lace, it will also have some pastel pinks and greens as well.

I've played with the idea of both of us wearing a type of the ancient priestly robes mentioned in Leviticus, as we are called to be a royal priesthood, but the breast 'plate' which traditionally would have held the 12 stones of the 12 tribes, instead each choose 12 things that represent things in our lives (my work, my hobbies, my family, etc). During the ceremony, these breast plates would be removed as a symbol of putting those things in second place in comparison to the covenent we are taking on with each other. Together, a royal priesthood, working together, in love, for our God.

Lofty hunh?

From my teachings as a young girl, it is actually the veil that indicates virginity, not so much the color of the dress.

Much like Trustandbelieve, my first marriage ended 21 years ago and I have been "saving" myself for my next (and last) husband. As such, I consider myself "a secondary virgin." :purpleangel:

If God deems that I should marry again, I probably won't choose white, but something very close! And if I want to wear a veil again, unless God objects, I most certainly will!

NRSV... I call myself a renewed virgin!

I figure there's a 7-year statute of limitations, so I guess I'm 3x a virgin!

You could say, some guy has 20+ years to make up for! :yay:

<blush>

If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Pure and white...................We are pure and white by the blood of Jesus righteousness. Let us see our selves as such and others as such.

I have to admit, I have worn and will probably again wear white after labor day..

Ok, it's a time of vows both to one another and to God, its a time of giving the gift of one another. has nothing to do with the color of a dress. Course the groom wouldn't have questions at this point, right? If the dress I like looks best to me in white, that's what I'd wear, and if that's what happens for me (a wedding), I'd probably look first at white. At the same time, you have to respect those that prefer Western? tradition. Is one more right?

I don't think so.

Traditional White (wedding dress) is for first marriage and a Virgin at that. If we had to count how many women follow this etiquette, the percentage would be small. lol

Jesus cleans of our Sins by His sacrifice on the Cross. This has nothing to do with What we wear at a Wedding. That is man's choice.

Colours doesn't really matter as long as the bride and groom are happy in the sight of God: )

Thanks for all the posts:) So far it sounds like posts are saying mostly the same as me except for one or two.

Joy Love and Vows should rule at the wedding.

My point is really that we focus on the event of the day, let the Bride and groom make thier day a creative, lovely memory of their vows and be their to support and not to critisize.

As I posted on another site on this topic, if these two people want to have the bride where white on their special day then why should aunt Bertha or grandpa gus be there giving them a hard time about the bride wearing white or purple or anything, no matter what you where on your wedding day or how you celebrate the ceremony, the marriage is the lovely fruit of that day and may it live long and prosper LOL:angel:

Being that this used to be a christian nation where the bible was the only if not primary text book, how can we not see that the bible had much influence over every area of society including the wedding dress?

White speakes of purity and until recent times the majority of marriages would have been to virgins who are pure physically.

The bible even describes Gods bride in white. Not to be disrespectful but I think it is silly not to think white chosen by women of old was largly due to their reading and understanding of scripture.

Obviously today that is not so like christmas and other things of meaning and value the world around us and out own attitude have cheapened these things to common.

I am not meaning to be confrontational but I feely strongly about this.
