Thanksgiving & Christmas:Meat or vegetables?

I ask this question based on newpaper aricles with people who have family members who are vegetarians & they do'nt like the idea of eating only vegetables on Christmas & a vegan guy i know from my job who says he wo'nt even eat on the same plate that meat had ever touched-even once! My qusetion is if you like meat only or vegetables only & wants to be with others who have this problem with food, what would you do? I asked this Because if you God will for you to be with someone, the other person you like meat or the other way around will end up being a little serious problem at the table.:eat:

It is no problem in my family. 1/3 of us are vegetarians. Neither side insists on forcing anything on the other. The vegetarians always make sure there are lots of veggie dishes (that they most often cook themselves) and we adjust the meat portion for the amount of people eating it. No arguing or fussing. And -- those who aren't vegetarians are always getting to try out new dishes that are 99.9% of the time very delicious!

I have a sister in law who has very strict dietary rules she has to abide by because of her cancer treatments. She fixes her own dishes, or my sisters and I will sometimes fix a dish that meet those needs (just because we love to cook). She will often bring her own food or buy it and cook it when we get together.

I've met some special girls in my day, but I have yet to meet a girl special enough to give up meat for.

Lol, don't blame you on that one, I like my yummy white turkey but only if it's grass fed without steroids and all that junk.

Godslamb, that's a good thing your family is doing. :)

I love meat! But lately have been on a rice and vegetable kick. No special reason I just am. A few days ago I had some carnea asada tacos (meat...yum) and I noticed when I went to the bathroom it was stinky and noticed for a few days after I stank...Idk ....do vegetarians smell better?

(disclaimer ; it was not my intent to make your nose wrinkle)...

@Godsjude

Sorry, but it is a true story and a real question. I thought there might be some who actually knows. Could you do me a favor?....Could you write the same post with a ' feminine ' flare and style? Then perhaps someone will take it serious and actually answer!

PS...It will also educate me on how not to be so 'offensive' so that I may practice the art when I get a wild hair up my......oops....I mean .....when the mood strikes me.. (you see how much help I need!)

I really think meat isn't that great for a humans system. Do-able, but damaging. It's the only source of cholesterol, with isn't too good for us. We weren't designed for it. I know there's a few people in my church that have gone "vege", and later they had some meat and felt like death for a few days. The opposite isn't true about a meat diet. You don't accidentally eat some vegetables and then get sick, lol. That being said, I've been raised a vegetarian my whole life, so when I look at meat, it has never looked like "food" to me. It's like looking at plastic. If you're raised on it, then it's different, but it's vegetables for thanksgiving for me!

YES, beef takes longer for us to digest, so it rots as it's sitting in your colon (ew..)

you may have noticed bloating as well.

I try to stay away from beef. Once in a blue moon I will have it but I usually stick to chicken, turkey and rarely pork.

I just cant stay away from the carnitas;)

my daughter and I went on a vegetarian kick last year for about 8 months or so and I learned to make many dishes that are awesome and you would never miss the meat.

Whenever we had an occasion at my house, everyone got fed vegetarian dishes and they liked it, haha.

vegetarian taquitos, enchiladas and lost of others.

@2Sparrowws: How 'bout this for a suggestion:

"A few days ago I had some carnea asada tacos (meat...yum) and I noticed there were some *smelly* consequences. Also a change in my body odor....Idk ....do vegetarians smell better?"
