Only One perfect man and He's engaged.

As I See It:

There is only ONE perfect man (Jesus) and he's already engaged to the Church....But there are plenty of 'WILL be perfect someday men' available for the 'Will be perfect someday women'.

There is only one that can fill all our hearts desires (Jesus) but there are many that are willing to walk with us on our way to the wedding.

I see too many setting their sights on an unattainable expectation in this yet sinful world. We need to remember that we are all in progressive stages of sanctification. We are no better (and maybe worse off) than Adam and Eve who failed each other.

God set the example of forgiveness for them to show each other. Remember our feet are still set in clay so don't expect your earthly companion (or future companion) to be any better than what this fallen world will allow.

Remember lesson 101: Love one another, and Lesson 102: FORGIVE one another.

I second that Teach ib......I can expect no less from anyone if I'm not ready and willing to give 100% not 50% in a God fearing, ordained partnership! I've always said if someone is only willing to give 50% in a relationship, who's getting the other 50%(smile)lol!!?

This is true in theory but practically relationships have emotion and conflict. If a couple dosnt have the practicle experience of resolving inner conflict then external conflict this theory will not matter.

Some people are not ready and never will be ready for a long commited relationship due to their lack of practical experience of conflict resolution.

I used to fearful of womens strong negitive emotions but today I enjoy engaging in my ladies angry hurt emotional world. In the inner strength God has given me I can come along side her and help her resolve her conflict and she me.

LTM,

I believe the OP agrees with what you are saying...none of us are ever really ready for the reality of a relationship. We all have imperfections and have a tendency to be critical of others who don't meet our every expectation, especially those we love.

So we need to be ready to forgive each other and set reasonable expectations...and be willing to work with each other to accept their imperfections. Be willing to forgive and be forgiven...and I'm speaking to myself on this!

It's funny that you posted this. I have an almost 90-year-old Aunt, such a sweet woman, and she is one of the few people whom I'm basically %100 positive will be with Jesus. She was married once to an abusive man and after that relationship ended, she choose to be "married" to Christ for the rest of her life, and she did just that. She picked the best groom!

I totally agree.. love and forgive.. just as Christ... oh how He loves us! He is a perfect example for everything. In relationships, this is what He has shown me and it amazes me. When looking at Him, I am always drawn to His kind of love. And this is what I think should Christians aim to be like in all types of relationships whether it would be a guy/girl, friends, coworkers or family (even the most annoying ppl u meet. Lol) We all fall short, Im not exempted. :) Just imagine the grace He is giving us... isnt that so much love??? A person fails yup most of the time, but God's love is saying,"I still love you no matter what. Dont dwell on it .. I forgive u.. now you take my hand lets do this together, we're gonna make it right." Knowing that kind of love simply completes me and if d Lord is giving us that kind of love, then everyone deserves to be treated as such.

1Jn 4:11-12 "Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God, but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us."

Amen this post is so true and the two lessons at the end are right on the mark. one of the verses that God seems to be bringing to the attention of the Church lately is John 13:34 &35.

I realize I'm a late comer to this conversation; however, I wanted to respond with saying I believe there is much wisdom in your words. Relationships are hard enough without all of the judgement and unrealistic expectations we as imperfect human beings tend to heap onto one another. Accepting one another for who God has made us and forgiving one another's imperfections through open communication seems like a great goal. Thanks for sharing.
