Hygene and cleaning, not withstanding, is it still the best thing to to and necessary as a Christian? Remember, it is much easier to keep ourselves clean nowdays, plus most of us bathe privately, not publically like they did it biblical days. That was the reason in the bible God wanted the boys circumsized. Is it still the best thing to do? Post Reply

Plus it's painful and damages the nerves according to something I've found out recently. In other words, it harms their sex life when they get older. Speaking of which, my mom just had to have it her way. (Thanks a lot mom...as if things weren't bad enough. I feel somewhat violated now.) Post Reply

However, circumcision is not mutilation in any sense of the word. It's a lot easier to obtain infections if you aren't, or decide not to. People make too much of things like this. Post Reply

There are no pain killers used when baby boy is circumcized. Imagine taking a pair of scissors and snipping off the first joint of your little finger. I know some people think that it is cleaner or less prone to infection, but that is a myth. If you go weeks, or even months, without bathing, then yes, you may get an infection. But that applies to women as well. Some of the problems reported by circumcized men are decreased sensitivity, inability to complete intercourse, and even impotence. There are literally tens of thousands of men now that are undergoing restoration. Up until the 1950's, circumcision was only done in about 30%-35% of the male population. It peaked in the 1970's and 1980's with about 80%-90% of newborn boys being circumcized. When the doctor asked my father if he wanted my brother circumcized, my father asked him if he wanted to wear dentures the rest of his life. Post Reply

I just meant that there were reasons back in that day why they did it. I'm just not sure 'mutilation' is a word I'd use. It's just easy to say our parents or grandparents made these terrible choices when they had reasons for making them, and they're not necessarily wrong. Post Reply

Are there some of you who do not yet understand what scripture says about this matter? By the way, I had to be circumcised twice after I was born, because the first doctor didn't know what he was doing. According to what my mom told me, that doctor transferred me to second doctor (a specialist if I'm remembering correctly) and he said, "What does he think?...that I'm a miracle worker!?". Post Reply

Posted : 4 Oct, 2012 01:14 PM I am always surprised how creative people are in thinking of ways to escape from God�s Commandments. The fun part is, they profile themselves as better than Good, smarter than Wise and fuller than Truth. Read Exodus 4, particulary the verses 24-26 and then try to hold up your philosophy of pain and higiene. Also Luke 2:21 clearly states that Jesus Himself was circumsized. Why would God send an angelic messenger to tell Maria that she would have a child and His name would be Jesus, and then kind of forgot to tell her that He should NOT be circumsized?
