CHALLENGE QUESTION!!! (with rules)
Posted : 16 Jun, 2019 04:03 PM

The rules first: POST ONLY ONE SCRIPTURE PER COMMENT. This question only asks FOR ONLY ONE VERSE. (don't be a coward posting volumes of Scripture to hide behind or a show off proving you can use an concordance). Anyone posting more than one verse per comment will be ignored and considered as purposeful harassment. WHY ONLY ONE VERSE AT A TIME? Because in reality we can only easily exegete ONE VERSE AT A TIME and prevents unscrupulous people from bulling others with voluminous posts. NOW THE CHALLENGE QUESTION: POST ONE BIBLE VERSE (Old or New) THAT EXPLICITLY SAYS GOD'S LAW CAN BE CHANGED? (Not places where you think it was changed, but where the Bible SAYS God's Law can be changed.

Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we maybe justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.For you all are sons of God through faith in Jesus Christ.

I think this might apply : 1 Corinthians 9:21 ►

To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. -- paul often did "heathen" things, food, etc. when meeting with or eating with heathens in order for him to gain their attention and set them straight. It served a useful purpose. He was trying a different sort of way to lead them to Christ. I myself would not try this, as heathens often have strong opinions and I would not want to be overwhelmed by them.

Dear Cupcake,

This is an excellent verse! But it doesn't address a 'Change in the Law' but rather our relationship to the Law.

Paul uses the same word "Law" for 16 different types of Law, often without specifying which law he is writing about. For example he speaks of the Law of love, the Law of Christ, the Law of sin and death, the Law of Moses etc...

The verse you referenced is speaking of the penalty of the Law that we are now free of. We are not free of the Law but now that Christ has paid the penalty for us, we keep the Law out of love rather than fear of a "tutor"'s punishment.

Dearneedsafriend;

You have supplied a truly interesting verse! Even though it doesn't address a "change" in the Law I would like to posit this is a commonly misunderstood verse. This translation may help;

"20 That is, with Jews, what I did was put myself in the position of a Jew, in order to win Jews. With people in subjection to a legalistic perversion of the Torah, I put myself in the position of someone under such legalism, in order to win those under this legalism, even though I myself am not in subjection to a legalistic perversion of the Torah. 21 With those who live outside the framework of Torah, I put myself in the position of someone outside the Torah in order to win those outside the Torah - although I myself am not outside the framework of God's Torah but within the framework of Torah as upheld by the Messiah."

What Paul is saying is he will keep the Jewish legalistic aspects of the Law so as not to offend the Jews and with associate with those outside of the Law to win them, but he, himself is not outside the Law as Christ taught the Law.

This then begs the question; what Law did Christ teach?

Well we can start at Matthew 5:17-18 and realize Jesus taught the Law of Moses but went on to teach the right motive for keeping the Law was more important. And that is what the Jews were missing: the right motive.

In summary Needsafriend, it's a interesting verse, but doesn't say the Law as God gave originally, 'changed', but rather Paul in dealing with different belief systems obliged them to a point, but never to the point of breaking the Law as Christ taught the Law.

For the law made nothing perfect and on the other hand there is a bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to zGod.

Sadlup, may I suggest that you ask and answer your own questions. What you provide is not an exchange of ideas, but you become the "teacher" and no one else counts. SO, lets see YOUR answer to the question instead of instructing the rest of us on our "mistakes".

Cupcake,

I agree with this verse whole heartedly. While the Law by itself doesn't make us perfect because of our weaknesses it is still nevertheless the instructions God gave. What happens is some people see the Law as a way to manipulate God into owing a debt to them. If I do such and such God will owe me and I can get what I want. This is indeed a shortcoming, but it is our shortcoming.

It because of our weaknesses to pervert what is good that the Law doesn't make us perfect. But this is a reflection on us, not the Law. The NT teaches the right motive for keeping the Law is what counts.

However all that said; the Book of Hebrews is mainly dealing with ceremonial laws rather than moral laws. Without the Temple and a theocratically governed Israel the majority of the ceremonial laws are not currently applicable.

Needsafriend;

First off, I am not your teacher, claiming to be your teacher, nor want to be your teacher. There is only One teacher; Messiah. However I am open to challenging discussion with the Biblical views of others. Ultimately we all are responsible to determine what the Bible REALLY teaches.

The Question is a CHALLENGE to you and everyone who thinks the Law changed. I don't think the Law changed, so how in the world do you expect me to provide a verse claiming the Law changed?

CHALLENGE QUESTION!!! (with rules)

**WE ARE NO LONGER UDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE OT LAW**

Galatians 4:9,10: How is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable principles? Do you want to be enslaved by them all over again? You are observing **SPECIAL DAYS** and months and seasons and years. I fear for you. that somehow I have wasted my efforts on you!!

Colossians 2:16,17: Do dot let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard a special festival, a New Moon celebration or a **SABBATH DAY**! These are a **SHADOW** of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found **IN CHRIST**!!

In the New Testament **EVERY DAY** is the **LORD'S DAY** especially **TODAY**!!

Acts 2:44-46: All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to everyone who had need. **EVERY DAY** they continued to meet together!!

Hebrews 3:12,13: See to it brothers and sisters that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But **ENCOURAGE ONE ANOTHER **DAILY**, as long as it is called **TODAY** so that none of you may be hardened by sins deceitfulness!

Exodus 31:14-16: Observe the Sabbath, because it is holy to you. Anyone who desecrates it is to be put to death; those who do **ANY WORK** on that day must be **CUT OFF** from their people... Whoever does **ANY WORK** on the Sabbath day is to be put to death!

Exodus 35:2,3; Whoever does **ANY WORK** on the Sabbath must be put to death. Do not **LIGHT A FIRE** in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath day.

This was possible in Israel since it is about the same latitude of warm South Carolina. But anyone in the frigid parts of the earth must freeze to death in the winter since electricity would not be invented until over 2,000 years after this commandment was given!!

Matthew 12:1-12: Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick some heads of grain and eat them. When the Pharisees saw this, the said to Him, "Look your disciples are doing what is **UNLAWFUL ON THE SABBATH**. Jesus answered, "Haven't you heard of what David did when he and his companions were hungry? He entered the house of God, and he and his companions ate the consecrated bread--which was not lawful for them to do, but only for the priests... If you had known what these words mean, 'I desire mercy not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the innocent. For the Son of Man is **LORD OF THE SABBATH**!" Going from that place, Jesus went into their synagogue, and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason to being charges against Jesus, they asked Him, "IS IT LAWFUL TO HEAL ON THE SABBATH?" Jesus said to the, "If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath?" Jesus said to them, "If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out? Therefore it is lawful to do good {*WORK*} on the Sabbath!"

John 5:16-18: So because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began to persecute Him. In his defense Jesus said to them. "My Father is always at His work to this very day, and **I TOO AM **WORKING**!" For this reason they tried all the more to kill Him; not only was **HE BREAKING THE SABBATH**, but He was even calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God.

John 9:16: The Pharisees said of Jesus, "This man is not from God , for He does **NOT KEEP THE SABBATH**!"

About 500 of the 613 Old Testament laws have been eliminated in the New Testament. There are

about 100 OT laws that are repeated in the New Testament. Then there are some OT laws that are obviously still in effect that are not mentioned or banned in the New Testament such as not wearing tattoos, not having sex with animals and selling your daughters as prostitutes.

Since Paul says over 20 times that we are **NO LONGER UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE OT LAWS** there are many who teach that all of Paul's books are of Satan and since Luke and Peter confirm Paul the books of Luke and Acts and Peter are also of Satan and half of the other books in God's Word who disagree with their ridiculous doctrines are also of Satan.

2 Peter 3:15,16: Bear in mind that our Lord's patience means salvation, just as our **DEAR BROTHER PAUL** also wrote you with the wisdom God gave him. He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which **IGNORANT AND UNSTABLE PEOPLE**{ distort, as they do other Scriptures, to their own destruction!!

Acts 9:3-6,11,15: As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a Voice say to him: "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute Me?" ""Who are you Lord?" Saul {Paul} asked. "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting." He replied. "Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do!"..... The Lord said to Ananias, "Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying!".... The Lord said to Ananias, "Go! This man is **MY CHOSEN INSTRUMENT** to proclaim My name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel!!"

I John 2:1-5: My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an Advocate with the Father--**JESUS CHRIST**, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. We know that we have come to know Him [**JESUS**] if we keep His commands. Whoever says, "I know Him," but does not do what He {**JESUS**} commands is a liar and the truth is not in that person. But if anyone obeys His Word, love for God is made complete in them. This is how we know we are in Him!!

John 14:23,24: Jesus says, Anyone who loves Me **WILL OBEY MY TEACHING**. My Father will love them, and We will come to them and make Our home with them. Anyone who does not love Me will not obey My teaching!"

Matthew 28:18-20: Jesus says, "**ALL AUTHORITY** in heaven and on earth has been given to **ME**. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to **OBEY EVERYTHING I HAVE COMMANDED YOU**. And surely I am with you always!!"

I Corinthians 9:21: I am under **CHRIST'S LAW**!!

Galatians 6:2: Fulfill the **LAW OF CHRIST**!!

Galatians 3:23-25: "Before faith came, we were held prisoners by the {**OT**} law, locked up until faith should be revealed. So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. Now that faith has come, *WE* ARE NO LONGER UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE {**OT**} LAW!!"

*WE* ARE NO LONGER UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE LAW!!

Galatians 2:14-16,20,21; 3:2,5,10-13;23-25: Paul said, When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter in front of them all, "You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs? We who are Jews by birth and not 'Gentile sinners' know that a man is NOT justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no one will be justified.!"

Galatians 2:20,21: The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!"

Galatians 3:10-13: "All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written "Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law." Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because, "The righteous will live by faith." The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, "The man who does these things will live by them." Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us!

Galatians 3:23-25: "Before faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked up until faith should be revealed. So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. Now that faith has come, *WE* ARE NO LONGER UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE LAW!!"
