Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD .

Now, you have the answer.

I read thru that article before, talk about no-so-cleverly twisted. I thought this part of that article was hilarious, I just about died:ROFL:

THE "FORBIDDEN" HAIRCUT

One of the silliest and childish arguments to justify the Christian tattoo is the: "Hey man, do you get a haircut or trim your beard? God condemned getting a haircut or trimming your beard in the verse before forbidding the tattoo. Dude, the tattoo is the same as getting a haircut."

Believe it or not . . . this is a widely used argument.

Leviticus 19:26-28 is a clear condemnation of pagan, witchcraft and heathen practices. Look at the context. Verse 26 is plainly referring to "enchantment [spells or witchcraft] nor observe times [astrology]. . . Verse 28 is the pagan, demonic practice of bloodletting [cuttings in your flesh] and tattooing. Why would the Lord stick in the middle a

verse that "condemns simply getting a haircut"? Of course, He wouldnt. . . And He didnt. . ."

-----

They use the exact same argument for the haircuts that I used for the "marks for the dead" verse, and they see no hypocrisy in applying the same logic to the haircut, in fact, they make fun of people using the same argument they use.

"Well, it obviously just meant haircuts that were implemented in pagan practices, not just every haircut! I can't believe how dumb that widely used argument is!! OH, but the TATTOOS, it's clearly speaking about every kind of mark, not just the ones used in pagan practices!!"

Not-so-clever:dunce: "Look at the context" Yes, lets do that, and apply their own argument.

Leviticus 19:28

"Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD."

"Leviticus 19:26-28 is a clear condemnation of pagan, witchcraft and heathen practices."

Yes, indeed it is.

Gen 4:15

And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.

Ezekiel 9:4

And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.

Do you profess to be a Christian? Then love not the world!

You say, being a Christian doesn't call us to change our affections? Love not the world! Examine yourselves in light of the Scriptures and see if there is any way in you that you have need of renouncing. Repent therefore, and love not the world.

1 John 2:15-16 (ASV) Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the vain glory of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

I definitely did not say that we should not change our affections. I would just like to see it proven from the bible that a "tattoo" of a scripture verse and a "tattoo" dedicated to Zeus are considered the same. If someone gets a "mark" on their bodies "for the Lord", then I would like to see where the bible condemns it. Also, I would prefer if the bible verse that condemns it would come from the new testament, unless the person advocating that all marks are demonic would also like to follow all the other Jewish laws and customs in Leviticus.

Galatians 5

King James Version (KJV)

5 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.

3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.

4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?

8 This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you.

Yes, the Torah points to Y-shua for salvation and only by faith in Him are we saved. But the Law teaches us what Y-shua called righteous living. Torah is only for only the Jews?? Are you non-Jews not to be holy because G-d is Holy? Where do you get the standard of Holiness??? Oh wait is it your heart? Y-shua said the heart is deceitful and wicked, who can know it. We judge our selves by His Word are we following His Laws of Holiness or not, to know if we have holly lives, character, and heart.

is the Christian (or so-called Christian?) tattooist and tattoo-bearer's worst nightmare. The Lord plainly, clearly, strongly, and without a doubt condemns the tattoo.

*** Yahweh condemns the Tattoo ???...WOW...I guess I'm going to hell because I've had a tattoo for years on my ankle...long before I ever new Yahshua and was called by HIM...Im so very grateful that Yahweh sent HIS Only begotten SON that I may be Forgiven my Trespasses and Disobediance that I was not aware I had committed before knowing HIM...Thank you Father for your Mercy Endures FOREVER...:yay:..X <>< O

*** Well that's not what the Scriptures say about what you say it says per the Scripture referanced...and yes Bob...that is exactly what you have asserted here...and I am still so SO Grateful that Yahweh sent HIS SON Yahshua to Literally COVER those things that we as mere humans have done contrary to the Commands of Yahweh prior to knowing HIM and HIS Ways...and as Forest Gump says....".and that's all I got to say about that"... I think anything that identifies with rebellion should be avoided by we believers.

You have to admit Mark that tatoos have their origin in rebellion?

Practically that is the underlying reality and why God forbids it, right?

Speaking of motive.....I would have to ask any professing christain.

Why would you want to permantly mark your body with something that has its origin in rebellion, witchcraft and heatenism and ultimatly is origin in rebellion towards God.
