Part 1

Galatians 2:11 but when Peter came to Antioch, I resisted him face to face, because he was at fault.

Sometime after the conference in Acts 15/Galatians 2, Peter went to Antioch. He was now aware of the specific grace given to Paul (Galatians 2:9) which did away with the Law both as a means of salvation and as a means of sanctification. Note Paul's rebuke of the Galatians:

3:2 This only I desire to learn from you: did you receive the Spirit out of the source of the works of the law, or out of the source of the message of the faithfulness?

3:3 are you so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are you now making yourselves fully complete by the flesh?

Acts 15:11 records the following statement by Peter:

But through the grace of the Lord Jesus we believe to be saved, in the same manner as those.

Peter recognizes that Jews can now be saved apart from the Law, just as the Gentiles were already being saved. So Peter knew better.

ET...my sister, I sensed your spirit very strongly, specifically in these last 2 post of your thread!!

Simply spoken...when we who have called ourselves "believers of Christ", "Christian" or whatever we've titled ourselves as, go before The Lord at the end of our earthly journey, I believe there will be 1 statement made first, then 1 question asked by God:

Statement---I do not know you because you did not know my Son!

Question(if you did know Jesus personally)---What did you do with what I gave you for my Kingdom??

I believe it will be just that simple!! The other question of course is...will where our hearts are at that very moment of transition, be submissive and right with Him??

Thank you for your passion in and of Christ!!

Quote from Montangrace:

What is the freedom and liberty that Christ speaks of through Paul?

Galatians 2:4 And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:

5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

=========================

Non sequitur.

It's going to be difficult to get through this step by step; if you keep jumping all over the map.

The snippet in the title of your thread did not come from Galatians. I suspect that you pulled it from Romans.

Context:

Romans 8

2 For the LAW of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

Free from the law, period?

You would do well to read all of Romans 7, and 8, in context.

An interesting side note, in reference to the scripture to support your lust to be free from the law, is that Galatians 5:13 uses the word "liberty" in the same sentence as the word "serve" in your mistranslated Bible.

You see, the Greek word for the word that your Bible translates as serve is "douleuete." It means " be slaving." As a matter of fact, to my knowledge, every time you see the word "servant" in the KJV NT, the correct translation from the Greek, is the word "slave."

When properly translated, it brings greater understanding the axiom that you can't serve two masters.

QUESTIONS: 1. What is the LAW of the Spirit? 2. What is the LAW of SIN? What is the LAW of LIBERTY?

DEFINITION OF SERVANT IN ENGLISH::

noun. 1. A person who performs duties for others, especially a person employed in a house on domestic duties or as a personal attendant. Origin OF THE WORD SERVANT: from Old French, literally '(person) serving', present participle (used as a noun) of servir 'to serve'.

DEFINITION OF THE WORD SLAVE IN ENGLISH: noun chiefly historical 1. A person who is the legal property of another and is forced to obey them.

Middle English: shortening of Old French esclave, equivalent of medieval Latin sclava (feminine) 'Slavic (captive)': some South Slavic peoples had been reduced to a servile state by conquest in the 9th century.

Source: Oxford Dictionary...

SLAVES/SERVANTS TO CHRIST OR SLAVES/SERVANTS TO SIN EQUALS SELF...

Doulos doo'-los Noun

Definition in the GREEK

a slave, bondman, man of servile condition

a slave

metaph., one who gives himself up to another's will those whose service is used by Christ in extending and advancing his cause among men devoted to another to the disregard of one's own interests a servant, attendant. bond-servant bond-servants bondslave bondslaves, both men and women servants, slave, slave's , slaves

SOURCE: New Testament Greek Lexicon -

What then? Shall we sin because we are not under LAW but under GRACE? Certainly not! Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves SLAVES/SERVANTS TO OBEY,N YOU ARE THAT ONE'S SLAVES/SERVANTS WHOM YOU OBEY, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? But God be thanked that though you were SLAVES/SERVANTS of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. And having BEEN SET FREE FROM SIN, YOU BECAME SLAVES/SERVANTS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS. I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as SLAVES/SERVANTS of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as SLAVES/SERVANTS of righteousness for holiness.

For when you were SLAVES/SERVANTS of sin, you were FREE in regard to righteousness. What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. But now having been SET FREE FROM SIN, HAVING BECOME SLAVES/SERVANTS OF GOD, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. New King James Version (NKJV)

GLORY TO YAHWEH!!!

Romans 2:13

For it is not those who hear The Law who are righteous in God's sight, but it is those who OBEY The LAW who will be declared RIGHTEOUS.

Hi Hark,

I believe this section of Scripture might answer your rebuttal,

Galatians 3

5

He, therefore, who is supplying to you the Spirit, and working mighty acts among you by works of law or by the hearing of faith [is it]?

6 according as Abraham did believe God, and it was reckoned to him to righteousness; 7 know ye, then, that those of faith these are sons of Abraham, 8 and the Writing having foreseen that by faith God doth declare righteous the nations did proclaim before the good news to Abraham 9 Blessed in thee shall be all the nations; so that those of faith are blessed with the faithful Abraham,

Christ Redeemed Us

(Deuteronomy 21:22-23)

10 for as many as are of works of law are under a curse, for it hath been written, Cursed [is] every one who is not remaining in all things that have been written in the Book of the Law to do them, 11 and that in law no one is declared righteous with God, is evident, because The righteous by faith shall live; 12 and the law is not by faith, but The man who did them shall live in them. 13 Christ did redeem us from the curse of the law, having become for us a curse, for it hath been written, Cursed is every one who is hanging on a tree, 14 that to the nations the blessing of Abraham may come in Christ Jesus, that the promise of the Spirit we may receive through the faith.

15 Brethren, as a man I say [it], even of man a confirmed covenant no one doth make void or doth add to, 16 and to Abraham were the promises spoken, and to his seed; He doth not say, And to seeds, as of many, but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ; 17 and this I say, A covenant confirmed before by God to Christ, the law, that came four hundred and thirty years after, doth not set aside, to make void the promise, 18 for if by law [be] the inheritance, [it is] no more by promise, but to Abraham through promise did God grant [it].

19 Why, then, the law? on account of the transgressions it was added, till the seed might come to which the promise hath been made, having been set in order through messengers in the hand of a mediator 20 and the mediator is not of one, and God is one 21 the law, then, [is] against the promises of God? let it not be! for if a law was given that was able to make alive, truly by law there would have been the righteousness, 22 but the Writing did shut up the whole under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ may be given to those believing.

The purpose of the law is to show a person their need of trusting Yeshua by FAITH to save them, by the Grace of GOD Almighty.

Hebrews 8:13

in the saying 'new,' He hath made the first old, and what doth become obsolete and is old is nigh disappearing.

Shalom
