"Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, Has God indeed said, You shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said to the serpent, We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die." Genesis 3:1-3
To be more specific, because it will be raised, the word keep, is not used in the context of guarding a wall, but in tending a garden. To keep a garden is to maintain it, not guard it. H8104 is primarily translated as keep, 283 times, but sparingly as watchman/guard, only 8 times.
Context, context, context. In its more narrow context, the one here, it is being in charge of and maintaining the garden. The minority meaning has to do with keeping a watch, as in guard duty. Adam wasn't on guard duty, he was taking care of the garden.
They greatly err, men who do not know the Lord is the God of the living..
Mark 12:27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.
Not all Jesus did was written down. What was written was sufficient to give us belief. Jesus did great signs that were not written down. John 20:30. The Father does no differently. The Lord often walked among Adam and Eve, and spoke with them as he called to them in Genesis 3:9. This time however, Adam was afraid, because he was aware he was naked, Jeremiah 7:13 confirms of course that God continues to rise up and speak to us His warnings, NOT just one time.
Before Adam and Eve ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they were unaware what nakedness was, unaware of good or evil, did not know what lies are or deception, trusting instead like children who are unaware of what's in this world.
Who would disagree that this situation was the most terrible, death on Adam and Eve to eat of this forbidden tree. Also curse on the earth and death for all afterwards. God gives multiple warnings we see in the entire book of scriptures, over and over warnings. Nobody can doubt this was the most serious situation ever, and who would think God would give just one warning and not repeat the warning giving much more serious words ?
When Eve answered satan in innocency, she spoke as told to her, how even to touch this tree of knowledge would result in death. This very same warning method is done by the Lord in Exodus 19:12-13, for something far less deadly, yet so deadly. How much more important for Eve to know, just touching this tree results in death for mankind ?
The devil wishes to corrupt the righteousness of God, by making Eve who God witnessed was unaware of evil and good, as being a liar and deceiver. The devil has failed in it's attempts and all others, because it's suggestions are always impossible and without sense..
Genesis 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
Jeremiah 7:13 And now, because ye have done all these works, saith the LORD, and I spake unto you, rising up early and speaking, but ye heard not; and I called you, but ye answered not;
John 20:30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:
31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
Exodus 19:12 And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death:
13 There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.
Hebrews 12:20 (For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart:
