Today it has become fashionable for many to speak in terms of "hearing" the voice God, or hearing the Holy Spirit or hearing the voice Jesus speaking directly to them. But Scripture is clear, the only words spoken to us from God, the Holy Spirit or Jesus, are found only in the Bible. The Bible even warns those claiming to speak for God but have not been commissioned by God to do so.
If anyone keeps insisting they are speaking for God or hearing voices from Him, then demand they prove it by instantaneously raising the dead or by instantaneously restoring a missing limb or by instantaneously restoring the sight of one born blind or by instantaneously healing a deformed man and enabling him to jump and dance the next moment. Or, if they can't do any of that, then simply ask them to predict the short term future ***in detail*** just like the real OT prophets did long ago!! Don't give me that foggy unspecified "prophecy" of the revered false prophet Nostradamus and don't give me that hit-and-miss false prophecy of today's charismatic "prophets"

Hi Richie, when will you learn to translate the Word of GOD Almighty. When will you begin to use your mind to think and meditate upon the real Word of GOD Almighty as the Holy Spirit empowers a person; Why do you continue reading faulty translations, that is why you have a faulty understanding about Messiah and His Word
What do snakes, and poison represent in the Word, are they literal snakes and literal poison, or are they symbols that need to be understood in light of other Scriptures.
You and many on this site need to be taught the basics for translating the Word, and how to understand when to take Scripture, literal, as symbols, parables, proverbs, allegories, or spitually.

All the major Bible translations except the KJV have this statement immediately after Mark 16:8: "The earliest manuscripts and some other ancient witnesses do not have Mark 16:9-20!!"
Mark 16:17,18: And **THESE SIGNS WILL **ACCOMPANY** **THOSE WHO BELIEVE**... They will pick up snakes with their hands {???}, and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all {???}; they will place hands on sick people, and they will get well.
Gracenotworkssaves: You and the KJV translators obviously believe that Mark 16:17,18 are the **INSPIRED WORDS OF GOD** and so you would obviously advise all **THOSE WHO BELIEVE** to pick up deadly snakes and drink deadly poison??

(Mar 16:17)� And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
(Mar 16:18)� They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
GNWS-if you wish to make the serpents and poison drink allegorical/figurative, then certainly the whole context must be figurative. the casting out of demons, the speaking in new languages, the healing of the sick, all those must just be a figure for something else. the context just doesn't bear that out.
Richard, I did look that up about the serpents. the romans did use snakes and a variety of other animals in their torture and killing of various criminals in their executions.

Richard, was it your point that by laying hands on the seven men that those seven were made apostles?
Wouldn't this hold true in these passages as well, then?
(1Ti 4:14)� Neglect not the gift that is in you, which was given you by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
(1Ti 5:22)� Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.

**WE KNOW THAT WE HAVE COME TO KNOW HIM IF WE **KEEP HIS COMMANDS**!! I John 2:3
Matthew 28:18-20: Jesus says, "All authority in heaven and **ON EARTH** has been given to **ME**! Therefore go and make disciples of all nations... teaching them to **OBEY EVERYTHING I HAVE COMMANDED YOU**!! And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age!"
It is completely obvious that God does not want us to handle deadly snakes and drink deadly poison as a sign for believers and therefore Mark 16:17,18 could not be part of the inspired Words of God in the New Covenant!!
Hebrews 5:9 Jesus became the source of salvation for **ALL WHO **OBEY** HIM**!
James 1:22-25: Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yoiurselves.**DO WHAT IT SAYS**! Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it--not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it--they will be blessed in what they do!
Luke 11:27,28: As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, "Blessed is the mother who gave You birth and nursed You." Jesus replied, Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and **OBEY IT**!"

I John 3:24: The one who **KEEPS GOD'S COMMANDS** lives in Him, and He in them And this is how we know He lives in us. We know it by the Spirit He gave us!!

There are about 400 New Testament commands which God's saints should all strive to keep with the hope of countless eternal **REWARDS** for faithful and loving service!!
Revelation 22:12 Jesus says, �Behold I am coming soon! My **REWARD** is with Me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done!�
Matthew 16:27: Jesus says, �The Son of Man is going to come in His Father's glory with His angels and THEN He will **REWARD** each person according to what he has done!"
John 16:12-14: Jesus says, "I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when he, the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own, he will only speak what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify Me because it is from Me that he will receive what he will make known to you. Montana, the Word apostle comes from the Greek word apostello which means SENT ONE.

Any person believing the Gospel, having the Holy Spirit and the Word of GOD Almighty is SENT of GOD Almighty to make LEARNERS of Messiah. The FUNCTION( Not office) of an Apostle has not stopped, but because of UNBELIEF people do not have power to proclaim the Gospel.
In the Scriptures, there are other apostellos / apostles / sent ones beside the twelve.
Strong's Number G652 matches the Greek ἀπόστολος (apostolos),
which occurs 80 times in 78 verses in the Greek concordance of the NASB
