Judas Iscariot - chosen?
Posted : 15 Sep, 2013 04:37 PM

John 6:70Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?

71 He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.

****

Was not Judas Iscariot chosen...but rejected the true calling?

Mark -- This will be my closing comment to you here.

I have two friends both are former competitive bodybuilders - one a former Mr. Universe. Though, I am a relatively fit guy, I have never trained at a level that comes anywhere close to these two fine gentlemen. As such, I would never suppose that I have anything to tell them about "bodybuilding". Nor, would I be foolish enough to argue day after day that my knowledge is either equal to or superior to theirs when it comes to the sport. By contrast, if they had something to tell me about competitive bodybuilding, I would be inclined to shut my mouth and listen. I would consider myself fortunate if they would be willing to endure my ignorant questions and provide me with knowledge and insights that they have gained through MUCH diligence and training.

"Give honor to whom honor is due"

Now, every Tom, Richard, and Harry, (Sally and Sue) thinks they are qualified to speak with "authority" about the Bible. It simply isn't so. God honors those who honor him. () The man who spends many hours a day in diligent study year after year will be honored for his study with increased wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. All things are not equal in the physical realm nor are they in the spiritual realm. God is not a socialist.

:yay:

Being i am the one on trial for stating a fact. I will just say. computers do not show emotion, except these cute little ole emotion icons ( they are just so cute) I in no way was being sarcastic, mocking, being malicious. Knowing your false belief of "free will" i was just stating a fact.

It is funny though how one little statement of fact can get the pharisees jumping though.

How's about we give Honor and glory to the one who is Worthy of it HUH?

[The Lord's Prayer]

[5]And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. [6]But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

[7]And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. [8]Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. [9]Pray then like this:

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name.

[10]Your kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

[11]Give us this day our daily bread,

[12]and forgive us our debts,

as we also have forgiven our debtors.

[13]And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

[14]For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, [15]but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

(Matthew 6:5-15 ESV)

Ok, and for my closing comment, I have to mention that I'm sure the Pope studies his bible an awful lot. I doubt you would follow his beliefs on scripture. I don't think spending hours a day reading the bible qualifies people for much when it comes to the truth. The pharisees were required to memorize massive portions of the scripture, and it benefited them nothing when it came to knowing Christ. God looks on the heart, and our fruits are evidence of what is in our hearts. I will honor those that display the fruits of Christ's character, and I've tried to give you credit when I have seen your strengths, but you have some weaknesses too, just like all of us.

And Donna, perhaps you did not mean to sound sarcastic, but from what we can see through online grammar it came off as pretty sarcastic. I do apologize for saying that I assume it is what you meant to do, I don't know that. The bottom line is, you can't really blame anyone for thinking it was sarcastic with the way you presented your "fact". See what I did there?

:peace::peace:

It's actually starting to become comical to me that no matter what I say, it's somehow taken in some other light.

Two Believers study the word- one for 10 minutes a day and another for 4 hours. There is a difference and that difference will be evident.

(Heb 11:6 [KJB:PCE])

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

There is an applicable principle in this verse.
