Vanity of Vanity, All is Vanity.Posted : 14 Apr, 2013 07:22 AMThe question is: If Everything is meaningless, then what's the purpose of our existence? Why did God bring the world into existence in the first place? If we were all just to be born, toil, and die, what's that mean? What do you think was in God's mind when he brought the world, us into being? (just a self study, if you have other explanation please share.) |

Vanity of Vanity, All is Vanity.Posted : 18 Apr, 2013 07:05 PMThe short answer is for the glory of God. As far as everything is meaningless, well yea life really sucks and is mean and spiteful and ppl tread on ya and its ugly and ya look and some do so well and stand on top least so they think. But on the other hand some are just so beautiful and innocent and sweet and care so much and often we over look those searching for our next step and material items. With all the terrible, horrible things Ive seen and done in life, I cant thank Jesus Christ enough for showing me the most beautiful things, the innocense and the love and Ill never forget or trade or belittle them for any reason and thats the meaning, to overcome and praise the Lord, for His glory. |

Vanity of Vanity, All is Vanity.Posted : 19 Apr, 2013 08:37 PMIf God is truly love, then He it is a natural outworking of his character to create beings to interact with, and creations for them to enjoy together. It's pretty impossible to be the biblical definition of "loving" and hoard everything to yourself. It's impossible to be "loving" and only make things for yourself to enjoy. It's impossible to be "loving" and only create beings that have no choice but to love you. So God molded worlds and created living beings to inhabit them, and interacted with them personally, and wanted nothing but to bring them happiness and peace, and died for them when they chose to destroy themselves. Like somebody said already, the only thing that ISN'T vain in this world is to love and follow and emulate that God, and share him and his love with other people. God is glorious and deserves glory only because he is worthy, because he is "love". |

Vanity of Vanity, All is Vanity.Posted : 27 May, 2013 10:09 AMThanks Gentlemen :-) I agree but why would God create something for his own glory? Isn't that selfish? Just asking. |

Vanity of Vanity, All is Vanity.Posted : 27 May, 2013 01:35 PMWell, that all depends on the definition of glory. What is God's "glory". Why is He "glorious"? Why does he do things for his glory, or for his "name's sake"? I think we have to be careful about putting our dictionary definitions onto what God is saying sometimes, and I think it's easy to miss that the problem of sin goes beyond this planet, and that there is a war going on over the question of whose government is better, God's or Satan's? Satan was able to deceive 1/3 of the angels to actually follow him in open war against God, and that leads me to believe that an accusation was leveled against God's character and his kingdom by Satan, one that was convincing enough to pervert holy angels to rebellion. That's why I think Jesus said "It is finished" when He died on the cross, the love/character of God was displayed on the cross in Jesus for the universe to see that God is who He says He is. He is righteous and sinless and loving and merciful, and to me, that is what gives God His "glory". So when He says He's doing something for "His Glory", personally, I take it to mean that He's doing something which is evidence/vindication of His character, against the accusations of Satan. Besides, God creating something that can disobey and rebel against him, and steal his most loyal servants, and pervert his creation, and destroy his children, does not sound like something a god would do to give himself adoration, and praise, and our human definition of glory. There is much that is happening that does not give God "glory". Wide is the road that leads to destruction, and many go that way, far more than those who choose God, which is against God's own desire. God doesn't want any to perish. |
