In another thread, a member here asked "Who is Spurgen? Who is Pink? Who is Bridges? Who is Luthor?" (his spelling mistakes, not mine)

You see this member thinks that the only thing that is important is "that one can express thoughts from a personal faith flowing from inside of them" His own personal thoughts are what matters to him. Why is that? Because he loves to pontificate his own ideas. He loves to promote himself. Yet, he sees little to no value in the being taught by others who are much more knowledgeable than he is in the faith and in the things of God. He is a rebel in his heart who will not submit himself.

So, who are Spurgeon? Pink? Bridges? Luther?

These are men of God that have been given by God to the body of Christ for the purpose of teaching - for the perfecting of the saints and the edifying of the body of Christ.

Eph. 4: 11-12 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ

To say that we don't need teachings from other men of God or writings of those that came before us is to say, " I have no need of you!"

1 Cor. 12

14. For the body is not one member, but many.

15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?

18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

19 And if they were all one member, where were the body?

20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.

21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.

:yay:

Amen

It is a shame most of the church today do not hear solid biblical teaching, they must have their ears tickled and their emotion set on fire or it can not be truth.

That is because for them, it's all about them and their personal experiences rather than God's glory. They believe God created man to exalt man and not the other way around.

Strawman:goofball: I know for sure that I don't believe that, and I'm fairly positive all the people in your cross hairs have not said that. If they don't believe it, you can't just tell them they do. I believe we already went over this when you posted the "5 points of Arminianism", and I only agreed with 3.

No problem studying and learning about/from preachers/teachers...but I prefer to even test their teachings against the Word of God.

Anything except the Word of God is someone's interpretation or opinion.

Luther wrote the 95 Thesis of grace witch is great. Yet, he also wrote. So see all humans fail.

On the Jews and Their Lies (German: Von den Jden und iren Lgen; in modern spelling Von den Juden und ihren Lgen) is a 65,000-word anti-Semitic treatise written in 1543 by the German Reformation leader Martin Luther.

In the treatise, Luther describes Jews as a base, prostitute people, that is, no people of God, and their boast of lineage, circumcision, and law must be accounted as filth. Luther wrote that they are "full of the devil's feces ... which they wallow in like swine," and the synagogue is an "incorrigible prostute and an evil prostute".

In the first ten sections of the treatise, Luther expounds, at considerable length, upon his views concerning Jews and Judaism and how these compare against Christians and Christianity. Following this exposition, Section XI of the treatise advises Christians to carry out seven remedial actions. These are

1.for Jewish synagogues and schools to be burned to the ground, and the remnants buried out of sight;

2.for houses owned by Jews to be likewise razed, and the owners made to live in agricultural outbuildings;

3.for their religious writings to be taken away;

4.for rabbis to be forbidden to preach, and to be executed if they do;

5.for safe conduct on the roads to be abolished for Jews;

6.for usury to be prohibited, and for all silver and gold to be removed and "put aside for safekeeping"; and

7.for the Jewish population to be put to work as agricultural slave laborers.

So I dont get your point???
