Jesus is NOT the Bachelor! Despite those who believe that he is. It's time to start getting your theology from the Bible and not from the television.
Jesus: Will you accept this rose? :hearts:
Bachelorette: Of course, I will :hearts:
Jesus: Will you accept this rose? :hearts:
Bachelorette: Sorry no, I cannot accept it. You seem like a great guy but I am just not "in love" with you.
NOT!! The Father arranged His marriage before the foundation of the earth. He is NOT out there wooing and cooing everyone to become part of his bride. Every last member of His bride was chosen in Him before the foundation of the earth.
I'm pretty sure God is already married to the nation of Israel. Hence the commandment, Thou shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. Not to mention all the vows they each took. Seems a lot like a wedding ceremony to me. Maybe not if you think the Bible is all about Christians and the Church. Of which it is not.
I was not in love with Him when I got saved; I was afraid. I had to go to Bible college just to find out what Christians knew about Him because to me He was the "Christian" god and I was to have nothing to do with him. When I got saved I didn't know him and I hated Christianity!!!! But the day He revealed Himself to me I, now I know by the Holy Spirit had my eyes and ears opened and I know what I heard was true "if you die today you will go the hell" and I know it was Jesus. Fear got me saved; I yelled out "Lord SAVE ME". Being saved for 23 years made me fall in love. That is my testimony and it can not be changed or denied.
There is only one Israel. It does not include the Christian Church. The church may be grafted into the Abraham Covenant through a New Covenant but that doesn't make them partakers in the Mosaic Covenant. The church is not the Bride of Moshiach. I believe this is a teaching of replacement theology and regardless of the form it takes it is not a Truth.
We have to remember that Jesus was not a Christian. He never talked about Christianity and he never meant for the Church to become what it is now. Jesus never talked about His bride and in fact only John the Baptist referred to Jesus as a bridegroom. At this time the Church did not exist. Of whom then was Christ the bridegroom? Only Israel, to whom He had come.
Paul on the other hand thought Christianity was a pretty good idea and did and said whatever he could to make the Scriptures work for him as he labored to build the Church. He may very well have been the first replacement theologian for all we know.

By definition Paul can not be a replacement theologian... Paul is a Jew!!!! No Christians do not replace Jews they are Grafted and just like Christians we have to be saved. Once again people don't get the difference between elected for service and salvation. Christians now get the privilege of knowing G-d like a Jew does it is equal. Some Non-Jews and some Jews get saved!!!
I don't know that Paul was literally a replacement theologian but I have never heard anyone preach the idea without using his writings.
IWA, Yes, I do not believe the New Testament is inspired Scripture and her is why. There are 52 references to Scripture or Scriptures in the KJV NT. All of them refer to the Old Testament, more often than not to the Law and Prophets and rarely to the Writings. When the words Scripture and Scriptures were written in the Gospels and letters there was no New Testament therefore they could not have been referring to it. To think they are inspired is to make an assumption that is not based on any Biblical writing. This is not to say that I don't believe Christians should take heed to the writings and live by them because they were written by men that either knew Jesus or were taught by men who knew Jesus. I simply distinguish The Scriptures from the New Testament because the New Testament doesn't include itself in the Scriptures. And because I am not a member of the Church of the Usual Assumptions.

:bouncy:Well, first, we're all still here, that should tell you something about how God works, but I do agree, that kind of picture of God is incorrect. God's method is more like "as in the days of Noah":
Jesus: Repent and sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you!
Bachelorette: Can't you just love me like I am?
Jesus: I do love you, but you will have no place in my kingdom if you commit the adultery of loving sin more than me. As in the days of Noah, so will my coming be. If you do not the things that I tell you, you will be locked out of the kingdom because you would only defile it, and you will be destroyed in the fiery flood that purifies the earth.
Bachelortte: But I love you! I want to be with you!
Jesus: You love yourself and your sin more than you love me and those around you. Repent, for why will you die??
Bachelorette: Well, it took 120 years for the flood to come last time, I don't feel like waiting right now, I'll check back with you later. Text me when you're coming back.
Jesus: What kind of wife would you make? I never knew you! How long have I waited for you and you continually reject me? Because you will not listen, everything you have will be desolated. I will come back when you least expect it, only those who are waiting for me will enter the place I have prepared for those that love me and and hate sin.
Bachelorette: What? I can't didn't hear what you said, this Miley Cyrus song is great! Where'd you go?
