We came to this country for freedom. In Europe at the time it wasn't even an idea. The reason for The Separation of Church and State was for freedom. Christ tells us to go unto the world and tell of His salvation. We want to have the freedom to do that which is right.
MARK 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
For example, you will not find anything in the Ten Commandments that a person shouldnt obey. There are governments that are not as lenient as we are. In fact there are governments that kill Christians just for being a christian.
JOHN 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
The Separation of Church and State - The constitution states, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. People confuse that as meaning government shouldn't have any Christian monuments i.e. the Ten Commandments in court houses or do any Christian thing. Quite the contrary.
It simply means that government will not make any law to prohibit or rule over anyone from believing any way. It gives people the right to choose. Other countries suffer because they don't have the law.
ACTS 15:7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men [and] brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.
We are lucky in America we can spread Gods word without worrying much about persecution. But even though in the uttermost parts of the Earth we need to spread that Christ will give salvation to anyone.
1THESSALONIANS 1:10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, [even] Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.
A person cannot spread Gods word sitting at home doing nothing. We have to get out of the house and tell people of Christ. We cant leave it up to our pastors and deacons to be the only ones telling of our Lords great salvation.
Here is a sample prayer if you're not saved today ask God for salvation in Jesus Christ's Name. Saying this prayer is a way to declare to God that you are relying on Christ for your salvation.
The words themselves will not save you. Only faith "full belief" in Jesus Christ can provide salvation.
Dear Heavenly father I know that I have sinned against you and am deserving of punishment. But Christ took the punishment that I deserve, so that through faith in Him I could be forgiven?"
"Jesus Christ, with your help I place my trust in you for salvation, and I ask that you will forgive me of my sins. I thank you for your wonderful grace and forgiveness.
Go tell a Christian church you have asked Christ for salvation and go to Sunday school you'll find fellowship and the study of the bible to be a great help as you grow as a Christian.
Most of the founding fathers were religious, and the majority of them were christian. The founding fathers, in their GREAT WISDOM, put the source of our liberties in a place where men cannot reach. They placed the source in "Our Creator". Why? So that a king or a president or a church or a state cannot say to us, "we voted your liberties away", or "I command you to obey". If you remove that from the constitution, then popular opinion or presidential mandates can simply strip away or redefine our freedoms until there is nothing left, but since we are endowed with these self-evident liberties from the Creator Himself, which transcends any constitution, it is a fail-safe that the founding fathers built into the constitution. If anyone every tries to take that out, then that it is a direct attack on our liberty AND the source of our liberties. If an atheist wants to remove it, then he removes the vault of his own freedom, and invites the possibility of a president or church being voted in or taking over and telling him what to do or what to believe.
