I've been seeking the answer to this question since I was teenager. Shortly after I asked myself that question; God gave me the answer; but I didn't recognize the answer. It wasn't until this evening that I finally realized that the question had been answered shortly after it was asked.
As I was asking myself this question; I was seeking the truth about God. I stopped listening to what men said about God, and sat down to read the Bible as it was written. I started in Genesis.
There the answer was, in part, BOLDLY reavealed; but I didn't see it.
I was somewhere in the New Testament, when I didn't need the Bible to tell me that God existed. I felt his presence. He reached out to me; and I chose to follow. It was at that time that I had experienced the answer. I didn't recognize that it was the answer.
The answer is that I was put on this earth to come to the knowledge of good and evil, and to choose good.
With respect, we have a much higher calling, and there is a much greater meaning to life.
The meaning of life:
"And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." - Jesus Christ
Our purpose in life:
"you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength." - Jesus Christ
When you read the Greek text, you will see that it means, with everything that you are, which includes the will. You shall love the Lord our God with all of our heart, mind, soul, strength, and will; everything that is in us, 24/7.
Know God, and love God. When you know God, you will love God, for He is love, and when you love God, you will feed His sheep with His word. John 21:15-17
