Awareness does not protect us from being overpowered. Being assertive does not stop a person from overpowering us. Saying 'no' does not make us safe. Strong boundaries are not a guarantee against being overpowered. Society expects us to use the rules of human decency to keep ourselves safe. Then society punishes us when human decency does not work. Newsflash: Indecent people don't care about the rules. Of course we resist abuse. But abusers have no respect for our resistance. Abusers overcome our genuine efforts to resist them and they violate us, against our will. They abuse us when they are able to thwart our self-protection and or defenses. We resisted. We resisted with all our might. But the abusers overpowered us. One of the things that hurts so much is the sense of violation. Having been overpowered. Seeing the abusers violate our children Being powerless to prevent, minimize or stop it. Maybe they won't be taken in by the devil so easily. Oftentimes they lead by their flesh. What it desires." I read it as saying that women who are abused were not lead by the Holy Spirit, they were taken in by the devil, and they were led by their flesh. In other words, that it's their fault that they were abused. That is false and it is not ok that you said that. Post Reply
