STAGES OF DATING - EARLY, MID, AND LATE

What is your dating like? I am a woman over 50 and unfortunately this has been my experience with 3 men, 2 in person and one on this site. I am a woman that loves the Lord and wants to do what the Bible says. I want to KNOW and BE KNOWN by someone I am going to marry. That takes more than two dates and I don’t mind sharing the expense and effort for the dates. The journey should be as enjoyable as getting to the destination. Life may be getting short but each day can still be lived to the fullest and be good.

EARLY DATING

It is like going to a potluck. So many good dishes to try and food doesn’t hurt you why settle for just one. There is always tomorrow to decide on the favorite.

MID-LIFE DATING

It is looking for the perfect fixer upper. You think you know what went wrong the first time so if you find an acceptable item without to much damage you can make it what you want.

LATE-LIFE DATING (AFTER 50)

Over our life is over and the current transportation is gone so we have to hurry up and find a good used car (woman). More than two trips to the lot are considered playing games. There is no need to get to KNOW anything if the first reaction is good you take a test drive, kick the wheels and sign for it – you can fix what is wrong later if there is enough time.

I am a woman of value because of my creator not a used car and I want more than two dates. Is that asking to much?

re: Turkey Tracks and the date as a mode of transportation.

I love your sense of humor. I also liked your persistance in the area of seeking at least once in our lives (this is the 21st century now, not Mom's season of life, when one marriage usually make it all the way) to have a "great/successful" marriage. For me, the concept of soulmating is my guidebook. Looks like this:

When I say soul mate, what I roughly mean is this:

 Cultural compatibility

 Easily achieved social compatibility

 Identical Spiritual experiences and beliefs

 Identical world views

 Identical maturation levels

 Sexual compatibility

 Total agreement on living styles

 Total agreement on money matters

 (probably) very minimal age gap

This list may not be complete, and it runs in the face of the myth that opposites attract.. OK, they may attract, but what does it take to complete the trip? (to share Turkey Track's prose example) I know that not everyone agrees with this age thing, nor some of the other parameters, but at 69, it sings for me. I see closeness of attitudes and interests as mandatory... Anyone know the theory behind career Preference Tests? See? Comment?

MID-LIFE DATING It is looking for the perfect fixer upper.

I sure hope not, that is one of the problem we women think we can fix, I have seen this many time. You can not change a person unless they want to change. That is why it is wise to choose a christian man, that way God can do the changing, that goes for men & women. Hope you find your sweet heart somewhere down the road, it's not good to be alone, but it is much better to be alone then to be with the wrong one...my sweetheart should of already been to the garage for his fixer up...God has a big shop, and does many repair jobs..glad he does not charge for the job...it FREE :yay:

All three responses are good and varied ideas. I had a young woman (mid twenties) send me an e-mail asking me why not just serve God , now that I am older...I suggested she ask that again in 26 years  and explained to her how I discovered how we acquire wisdom from life experiences..and asked her to read some of the following Bible verses to gain more insight:

Genesis 2:18, 21-25; John 4:24; I Corinth. 7:32-34, 11:11; which was totally awesome because "God's Purpose For Marriage" was the topic at my church's sermon today! I also added Psalm 37: 3- 4 to read..

But I also asked her if she sent the same message to the other 1-doz plus women I seen online at this site at the time I read her e-mail whose ages were from 42-57...so, I think this would be interesting to get feedback on...and what does everyone think of suggested Bible verses I gave and any other input or Bible verse suggestion would be appreciated...we are all here to learn & grow in Christ

God Bless your respones, Barb
