I tend to be a sappy romantic... while I wouldn't want anything extravagant... something personal and well planned out would be fine with me...

however, just to show you what kind of sappy romantic I am... I saw the cutest comercial today... It shows a guy and a girl visiting the girl's parents, where there happens to reside a beautiful white fluffy cat. You then see the girl walking up to the cat to love on it... then it flips to the the guy and the girl leaving and the girl reluctantly giving the cat back to the parents... Next it shows the guy remodeling a room in his house...then pulling the girl into the remodeled room which is now clearly a "cat room" the camera pans to a completely adorable little puff ball of a white kitten... She picks up the kitten and looks at it's collar where a engraved tag states "Will you marry us?" (of all this it was a fancy feast commercial) but it was soo cute!

see told you I'm a sap! LOL but just the thoughtfulness in that type of proposal knowing how much the other cat meant to her and going out of his way to incorporate the other person's love of cats into his "space" that is what makes that type of proposal so neat.

WARNING: just because I liked the commercial does NOT mean I want to be proposed to with a small fluffy white cat! It was the prinicple behind it that I liked...Trust me I have PLENTY of animals in my life LOL.

my ex husband and I were walking around in the mall and he pulled me into the jewelry store and he walked over to the engagement rings and asked me, do you like this one, or this one or how about this one.......then I said, OOh, I like this one and he asked the lady if he could see it then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

he bought me the ring and 6 months later we got married.

**

I dont think about being proposed to, but I am a romantic (of course) and actually, when it's right, it's right...i dont think it would matter the way it got done.

Just don't put the ring in the glass of red wine. I'm not the type of person who always aware on what's there on my glass/plate. If I were proposed that way, there was a chance of me drinking the red wine plus the ring. And then I would be choked.. And die. Not so romantic lol :goofball:

If you really want to propose that way, try to put the ring in white wine or non dark colored drink.. That should cause no death. :prayingm: but of course she wouldn't be surprised :zzzz:

I'm not one for theatrics, so if a girl's hoping for skywriters or a flashmob, she's out of luck with me. Most likely, I'll take her to my grandmother's old house in south Georgia and talk to her a little bit about family history, and how this is where my family came from, then ask her if she would like to join mine.

I actually try not to think about proposals too much...I've realized that even if I DO someday meet that special guy, he will most likely propose in his own way and not "my" way. But I'll set aside the pessimistic thoughts for now and give this a shot...

I wouldn't want him to make a huge public deal over it, but I would like for him to have put some thought into it! Some "wants" -- I want it to be a surprise, meaning that even though I will probably know that a proposal is coming at some point, I don't want to know exactly when he's planning to ask me; I'd like for him to pick a romantic or special location that is not too public; I really want him to surprise me with a ring (I'm not picky, but my family has an idea of what sorts of designs I prefer in case he asks!); and I do NOT want him to get down on one knee...if we are to the point of a proposal, he's not going to have to beg me to say yes!

Also, I would like for him to ask for my mom's blessing, preferably before he proposes (though I suppose we could ask her together after I'd said yes). I'm old enough that I don't feel like we would need her "permission", but I would love to know that we have her blessing. Hopefully, we would have discussed marriage in the months leading up to an actual proposal, and I would have had a chance to tell him that my mom's blessing is important to me...maybe he'll be able to take a hint about asking her before asking me!

I'll tell you one way NOT to propose. Don't go to a friend at work that you are NOT dating, and and ask her to marry you so the two of you won't be lonely at Christmas time.

We were riding around one night, when he looked at me and asked," how would you like to take this man, as your husband?" And I said,"yes I would". We had a good 20 yr. marriage, till the Lord took him home.

I think the guy must cry, an absolute must...at least if he's proposing to me. And if the man can provide some rain as well, that would be perfect.
