I have a sad Valentine's legacy going on..

When I was dating my ex in college, for our first Valentine's Day (we had started dating the year before in March), I had a cake maker friend help me make a heart shaped cake with writing on it, a huge $10 balloon and a single red rose. When presented to him, he looked embarassed and (men can be soooo stu pid!!) actually said "why did you do this for me? I'm the man!" :MrT::boxing::dunce::toomuch:  It was always a source of contention even throughout our marriage, we couldn't ever seem to have a good V-Day, we couldn't get it together. Christmas and birthdays were great but V-Day was a no go.

Okay, so since I've been divorced (4 years in November), I have dated a few guys, only one seriously.

BUT I'M NEVER WITH THEM ON VALENTINE'S DAY!! What is that??????

Okay, so the question is; What is your favorite Valentine Day date, or ex-husband/wife getaway or gift given to you? I need to live vicariously through yall!

Oh please...enough with the fishing lines!

Valentines Day. That's the topic at hand. I personally hate Valentines Day. It is also known as SAD (Singles Awareness Day). But I guess I have some nice memories too. One is that my dad his co-worker (who was also his best friend) always went to the store together and bought "their girls" boxes of candy. My dad would show up to breakfast on Valentines Day morning with a nice heart-shaped box for each of us. After he passed away, his friend continued the tradition for many years, and bought candy not only for his girls, but for my dad's girls too...he did it in memory of my dad. He delivered it by getting up really early on Valentines Day morning, and leaving a bag full of candy hanging on our newspaper box. We'd find the candy there when we went to get the paper for our mom before breakfast. Those memories are probably the best that I have.

Boys, boys! Take it over to the fish story thread. Y'all got some funny ones, I have to admit. Guys always were good at telling "fish stories."

Before I leave,

Pianogal, was "fishing line" a intended pun? Or are you just 'baiting' me?

*picking up my pole*

Salmon times you just gotta know when to be Coy.

One of my favorite valentines was in college, I guess the only guy I'd say I really "fell in love" with. I had his roomate give me a key to the apt. and I decorated it, and left a card and cake for him when he came home.

He loved it, and I loved the fact that I pulled it off... or so I thought.

A few weeks later, he hestiantly told me that his dumb friends came over before he came home and ate half the cake before he even saw it!!

:goofball:

Oh well, I couldn't believe it and thought they were idiots but I got over it.
