How important are teh condition of ones teeth? Do you expect them to be perfectly straight and white? My top teeth are nice but my bottom are crooked one tooth is behind the others and I can not afford braces.

Teeth/tooth: must be present. Yes, at least one. :goofball:

My sister was once asked what she was looking for in a guy, and she said "Well, he needs to have at least one tooth left...everything else is optional."

All joking aside, though, it's a good question. Personally, as long as the teeth are healthy and clean and seen by a dentist regularly, I'm not too particular about how white and straight they are. (Granted, I have seen people who seriously needed to try some Crest Whitestrips to see if they could brighten the little toothies up!)

However, I don't think I could date or marry someone who had poor dental hygiene...if he never brushes and never goes to the dentist, he will have bad breath, cavities, gingivitis, and all sorts of other gross mouth problems, including tooth loss. Taking care of teeth is just part of staying healthy.

I do realize that some people have "better" teeth than other people do. I have been blessed with ridiculously healthy and fairly white teeth, and my mom insisted on making me get braces when I was a teenager. (Braces are pure torture, by the way, and I can't help but think that they must have been invented by some dentist who was constantly being bitten by savage kids and wanted to get back at them. :goofball: ) But just because I have good teeth does not mean that I expect everyone else to have good teeth too. Just well cared-for teeth.

Did that help answer your question any?

Now this is an area where I envy you Americans: your dentists are much better than our own! My own teeth are relatively good, but after a childhood on infamously sugary British sweets, lovingly spoilt by good old gran, and cheap but hardy NHS alloy fillings, I now have a mouth that resembles a chess board!

I guess that's part of our problem, dental care used to be on the NHS so everything was done to a minimum standard to keep costs down.

Of course, now we have to pay for our dental work and I'm thankful my parents instilled in me the habit of brushing twice daily - it should keep what I've got left in working order for a while to come.

The NHS is the best thing to come out of Britain.

You're complaining about getting poor fillings etc on the NHS but what do you think you would have got if there had been no NHS? NOTHING!!!!!!

Or he would have paid less taxes and been able to use that money for quality dental work.

I'm not knocking the NHS at all - I'm glad I can go anywhere in the country and get emergency treatment or reasonable health-care without having to worry about paying for it.:nicenurse:

But it has to be said; the gov simply cannot afford to give everyone top private clinic levels of service - not on the amount they get in NI deductions from us - which is why those who want the best go private (or go to America for treatment).

I moved from Sweden and down to Texas to marry a man I had met on Internet. This was before I knew God.

When he met me on the airport together with my 12 years old daughter did I see that he had mybe 3 teeth up in his mouth but he smiled with a BIG smile to me and my daughter.

I was a little in shock but my daughter went in to total shock so she said in Swedish " Mom, let us return to Sweden, he have no teeth ! " This did she said over and over even when we hug him so as soon I was alone with her did I have to slap her in her face for her to come out from the shock and I promised her that we should go back home as soon we could.

But both she and I was used with his bad teeth and I kissed him only with a closed mouth like I do to my kids.

Then did I start my own webdesign business in Texas so he could fix his mouth.

But we was only married for one year because he couldnt stop to date other girls and he also did drugs.

What I want to say is that you can stop be so fixed with your partners teeth so you can accept it if the teeth are bad.

my teeth are clean, and I brush and floss, but I have some broken fillings in back. (no insurance) I could live with something like that, but no tobacco mouth, or sighs of gross neglect. Riki, the guy I like recently quit smoking:yay: He whitened up his smile, and it looks so nice!
