So you think you know who you are talking to is really who they say they are.....

On line dating is relatively new to me, but I do know that there are those who pose to be one thing and are not.

Welcome to scammer school 101.

1) yes they will ask you for money on the pretense of

a) being stuck in a foreign country because....robbed, can't cash a check, the ATM ate their card....you get the picture.

b) they can't a checking account and want you to share your banking info to deposit money into OR they want you to open a new account in your name to deposit money into (money laundering)

c) they are working on a project and ran out of funds to finish it, but once they do it will sell for lots of money

2) they will try to draw you into their job or organization

a) a job is starting but can't get back in time to get their mail, will you allow their mail to be delivered there.

b) have you receive packages that need to be signed for and then reshipped out to another location (often this is stolen credit card bought items you are sending along)

c) use your address or name to sit up dummy credit card accounts or charge items and have it sent to you for billing purposes

So those are a few things that I know they will try to work on you.

Some can speak very good English, but it might be slightly off.

They don't like to answer questions that require too much thought, such as tell me about the place you live at. If it is a cut and paste from the internet most likely it is someone who has never been there. That or they have poor skills in communication.

They no longer can provide current photos, for example they tell you they are traveling, but no photos of them in that place.

Guys don't assume the woman you are talking to is actually a woman. Most of these scammers will pose as both men and women to get whatever they are after.

I will post more as I am still learning more and more. Please feel free to jump in with things you may have experieced and what ideas you may have on this. :purpleangel:

We are fighting the good fight of faith.....:boxing:

Oh, oh, oh...

I have one. This is after I politely told him that I wasn't interested.

" GOOD AS WELL! MOREOVER TAKE CARE AND LIFE TO U.........

BUT CAN I KNOW YOUR FULL NAME TO BE HONESTLY."

No. I asked (myself) "why does he need my full name? To pray for me?

Then I answered (myself) "No, he can pray for moichepit, the Lord knows who it is!

I never answered him.

As with any fight, some fight dirty. I guess I rattled someone's cage because they chose me to copy and use on another site. LOL. Well I can prove who I am, can they? :nahnah:

Good job okiekansas! Awhile ago, the good Lord had to open my eyes to what all was going on, in these websites. I learned alot, but very sad though. I pray that these men and women that are doing these sorts of things, will soon find the Lord, and turn their lives around...:prayingf:

If someone did that, they should be held under the same laws as identity theft.

Newest info I have gathered.

They now seem to add a child to the mix. Not to knock single fathers as I do support them, but it makes the case of the scammer more dangerous or urgent when they come in for the kill.

I was talking to a guy from another site who is "running away from a scammer and had to put his money in a secured account" He is "supposedly in hiding with his son and no finances in the UK" because "she was going to kill him for the money".

He is trying to set me up most likely to open an account to send his money back into the US from an African country.

I have been messaged and Im'ed by at least 10 "women" from Ghana in the last week. They all claim to be "mixed raced" either african/white, african/filipino, or american/filipino. They have several things in common.

1. They were all born in the US.

2. They all had to move to Ghana after one of their parents died.

3. No matter how "mixed" they are, they all look very very very white. (lifted pictures).

4. They are all poor and need money for school, food, internet, or medical expenses.

For the guys on here, Google "Ghana Romance Scam".

On Good Morning America Today

A guy HolyCross is scamming many women because he is a charmer ; he has been on many sites and scams women from many States. One lady was on tv said he scammed her to sell her home, car, and took her money and she has nothing. She was a attractive lady as well. The guy picture they showed was a very fit attractive Male. All scammers are not from Other countries, they are right here in the USA.

Pray God lets you know who is a scammer; and who is not.

Many Lonely people out there let their Guard down and are taken in.

That may be so, the IP address may show they are in the USA, but woven in is the real IP and it is mostly Nigerian.

I have to decided that we all should make this a test for those we talk to. Proof that they are who they say they are. My test is very simple. That person buy a local newspaper with current date. Have their photo made holding that said newspaper showing the current date, preferably in front of something that is known in their town, maybe the local high school and then you know it isn't a stolen picture. Time stamped so to speak.

What do you all think? I know that webcam can be faked. Not sure how but the experts I have talked with says don't trust it. Unless they can also show you a local newspaper with current date.

OK I found out what really happened. I posted myself on one site and that site shared my profile either on their sister sites or gave my profile to other dating sites.

I am not sure if this site does it or not.
